Microsoft announced last week that it’s developing a new Xbox One dashboard with improvements being focused on speed. It said that among other improvements, the new dashboard is going to make common tasks faster. Head of platform engineering for Xbox Mike Ybarra has now teased some of the changes that the new Xbox One dashboard is going to introduce in an online stream.

The new Xbox One dashboard is going to bring a new achievement tracking overlay, improved music controls, a new design for Cortana as well as a new Gamerscore leaderboard aside from many minor changes.

The new guide will be available through a single button press. This is going to speed up things considerably as currently Xbox One owners have to open home again and this can often lead to the entire system slowing down or refreshing randomly. Users will be able to swiftly switch between recent apps and games without having to go back to the dashboard’s home.

The company is yet to confirm precisely when this new Xbox One dashboard is going to be released. It’s expected to start testing it with the Xbox One Preview members over the next few weeks. The new dashboard will likely be released in a few months.
