With MWC taking place towards the end of February, we expect that smartphone makers will probably have quite a few announcements to share. So far a few OEMs have announced their presence at the event, and if you are looking forward to new Motorola handsets, it seems that could be the case as well.

Motorola Germany’s website has recently started running a countdown timer, which you can see in the screenshot above. The countdown timer is for 22 days, and at this time of posting it is the 4th of February, which means that whatever it is Motorola will announce will take place on the 26th of February, which is roughly around the same time that other companies will be making their announcements.

As to what could be announced, we have been hearing rumors of a certain Moto G5 which will be the successor to last year’s Moto G4. There are also rumors of a Moto G5 Plus and earlier in January the Moto Z (2017) was spotted on the benchmarks, or at least what was assumed to be the Moto Z (2017).

The website also sports a golden octopus inside of Motorola’s logo. We’re pretty sure it has some kind of significance, although we can’t say for sure what it means. Could it be hinting at more octa-core phones? Android “Octopus”? Water-resistance? We guess we’ll have to wait and find out for ourselves!
