There’s no denying the fact that iPhones sell really well. They’ve been a cash cow for Apple for almost a decade now and a new report released today suggests that Apple’s smartphones continue to bring in record-breaking numbers. The report says that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were the number one and two best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of this year.

Strategy Analytics mentions in its report that global smartphone shipments touched 353.3 million units in the first quarter of this year. Of the total number of units shipped, 21.5 million were accounted for by the iPhone 7 and 17.4 million by the iPhone 7 Plus.

Going by these figures, the iPhone 7 accounted for 6.1 percent of all smartphone sales in the world this past quarter and the iPhone 7 Plus accounted for 4.9 percent. Its handsets thus held the first and second positions with Oppo’s R9s coming in at third while Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J5 (2016) handsets took fourth and fifth place, respectively.

It won’t be surprising at all if these figures are true. Apple sells tens of millions of iPhones every quarter. In its official earnings release for the first quarter, Apple revealed that it sold 50.8 million iPhones in the first quarter of this year.

However, keeping with its tradition, the company didn’t break down sales by model. The iPhone’s performance in the market may only improve in the coming quarters as Apple’s 10th Anniversary iPhone is due later this year.

The iPhone 8 is reportedly going to be a revolutionary smartphone so it’s definitely going to be something that many Apple fans will be anxiously waiting for.
