#IFA2017 – A new report claims to offer some insight into Sony’s smartphone plans for 2017. The company has been finding it hard to sell its products against strong competitors from the likes of Samsung and Apple but it’s not exiting the smartphone market just yet. The report claims that Sony is going to abandon its Premium Standard phones and focus on the high-end market segment only. It’s expected that the company will launch two flagship Xperia smartphones in 2017.

Folks at Xperia Blog report that Sony confirmed this roadmap for 2017 at an investor conference in Tokyo recently. It revealed to attendees that it’s going to release two new flagship smartphones in the second half of its fiscal year 2017 which began on April 1st.

Since these smartphones will be targeting the high-end segment, they will be in the same category as the Xperia XZ Premium and XZs. The company didn’t provide any further details about its upcoming flagship smartphones so it’s not known at this point in time what sort of specifications and features they’re going to offer.

It’s likely that Sony is going to unveil these two new flagship smartphones at the IFA 2017 trade show in Berlin this September. The company has previously used the IFA stage to launch new flagship smartphones so it’s possible that history might repeat itself in 2017.
