There is no denying that Pokemon GO has had a huge impact on society today and also technology as it proved that augmented-reality based games do have a lot of potential. In a recent post on Niantic’s website, it seems that Pokemon GO has achieved something of a milestone by having been downloaded more than 750 million times.

According to the post, it reads, “Downloaded more than 750 million times in its first year, Pokémon GO will be bringing Trainers together in new and unique ways this summer through a variety of in-game and live events including Pokémon GO Fest, the first live Pokémon GO event organized by Niantic.”

The event that Niantic is referring to was reported last week in which the developers will be hosting their first real-world Pokemon GO event. For those who might have missed the announcement, the real-world event will be kicking off in Chicago’s Grant Park where trainers will be able to meet other trainers in real-life and participate in various activities.

Pokemon GO has turned a year old and the developers are still constantly pushing out updates to the game along with new features. However there are still some key features missing, such as player to player trading, player battles, and legendary Pokemon, but those are expected to be added later this year.
