With our smartphone batteries still not quite at the same levels our feature phones were in terms of longevity, we guess the next best thing would be the ability to charge them up quickly so that we can get operational again. These are features we’ve seen companies introduce to phones before, such as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge.

Now it looks like the company is back with a newer version in the form of Quick Charge 4+, which according to Qualcomm is not only faster at charging compared to its predecessor, but it is also more efficient, and it also runs cooler which means that you won’t have to worry quite as much when it comes to your phone or battery overheating.

According to Qualcomm, “Quick Charge 4+ goes one step further and is designed to monitor both the case and connector temperature levels simultaneously. This extra layer of protection helps ward against overheating and short-circuit or damage to the Type-C connector.” If you’re looking for a phone that supports the latest Quick Charge 4+, you’d have to look no further than the Nubia Z17.

The phone will be the first to support Qualcomm’s latest technology, but we can imagine that OEMs will start including the technology in their handsets in the near future, so do keep an eye out for it if it sounds like something you’d like.
