While fake news has always existed, our dependence on social media platforms to consume our news these days has made it a bigger problem, where people are sharing articles that are fake without knowing it. This is why platforms such as Facebook have created tools that will help combat the spread.

That being said, some of you guys might be thinking that you could probably spot fake news a mile away, but the question is, can you? That’s what veteran journalist Maggie Farley wants to find out, and the result is a game that was created to test your ability to identify and spot fake news and separate the fake from real.

Dubbed Factitious, the user interface mimics popular dating app Tinder, where players will swipe left or right in trying to determine which piece of news might be real and which might be fake. Users can also click the “source” to find out where an article might have been written, so depending how up-to-date you are on satire/parody websites, this is actually more challenging than you think.

So if you have a few minutes to spare and want to test your ability at identifying fake news articles, then head on over to the Factitious website and start swiping.
