If you go to anyone’s Instagram profile (or even your own), you’re probably familiar with the grid layout that the platform has been using for years to display photos. This grid layout isn’t just  way to view photos as thinking about what photo goes next to each other can help create a cohesive look.

We’ve also seen how users and companies have used it creatively to display larger images where they took advantage of the grid layout to upload multiple images to form a single large image. However that could soon come to an end, or at least users will need to get used to a new format because it looks like Instagram could be changing their classic grid layout from 3×3 to 4×4.

In a report from The Ringer, it seems that users are reporting that they are seeing changes made to the grid, where it used to display three photos per row but now it is displaying four photos per row. The grid design is still there, but users who used the grid for very specific design and layout purposes will probably need to rethink their choices.

We’re not sure what the reason could be for the change, perhaps to accommodate larger smartphone displays, but at the moment it doesn’t seem that all users are affected by this change which suggests that it could be a feature that is being tested. Either way what do you guys think of this potential change? Yay or nay?
