When it comes to trying to blanket your home with WiFi, there are many ways to go about that. One way could involve getting a more powerful router with better coverage, or purchasing mesh networking systems that let you cover more areas, or purchase a range extender. If the latter sounds like something you might be interested in, Linksys has you covered.

The company has recently taken the wraps off its latest tri-band range extender in the form of the “Max-Stream Tri-Band AC3000 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE9000)”. The device will use tri-band MU-MIMO technology which can help cut down on interference if you have a lot of devices connected to the network, and it also appears that the router will have support for automatic firmware updates, so any vulnerabilities in the future can be quickly and easily patched without any action taken by the user.

Unfortunately all of these features means that the RE9000 will not come cheap. It is priced at $170 which puts it well above many range extenders already in the market, but we guess if you have need for all of its features, then perhaps you could justify its price. It will be available via a number of retailers starting on the 23rd of November. Alternatively if price is an issue, you could consider using aluminum foil which researchers recently confirmed does help with boosting one’s WiFi signal.
