The Mate SE was launched by Huawei in March this year. It can easily be described as a slightly upgraded model of the Honor 7X which costs a bit more money. Huawei released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Honor 7X last month which meant that it was only a matter of time before this handset got the update as well. Huawei has now started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Mate SE.

Reports have now started coming in that the Huawei Mate SE is finally receiving its Android 8.0 Oreo update. The update weighs in at almost 2.4GB which is not surprising given that it’s a major Android platform update.

It brings all of the features that users have come to expect from Android 8.0 Oreo, including but not limited to the picture-in-picture mode, Autofill API, improvements to the notification shade.

Additional features that this update brings include seamless integration with LinkedIn, the ability to connect with two Bluetooth devices at the same time, face unlock, a floating navigation dock, and more. It also includes EMUI version 8.0 which is Huawei’s custom skin for Android and comes with its own suite of features.

Huawei Mate SE owners who haven’t received an update notification on their handsets as yet should expect to get one in the days to come.
