CyanogenMod is an alternative firmware that is based on the Android operating system. It is seen as more versatile that the stock firmware which comes in such devices, offering more features and options such as theme support, Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) compatibility, a huge repository of Access Point Name list (APN), an OpenVPN client, a souped up reboot menu, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering support, the ability to overclock your device’s CPU and perform enhancements, and soft buttons among others. One good thing about CyanogenMod is the obvious omission of pre-installed spyware or bloatware.
