oneplus-02As you might have heard, Cyanogen has recently inked a deal with Indian OEM Micromax to provide software to the company’s Yu-brand of smartphones. This is an exclusive deal which has some Indian customers wondering about the state of their purchases regarding the OnePlus One which also has CyanogenMod preinstalled on the phone.

Does that mean that Cyanogen will be forsaking India’s OnePlus One handsets in favor of the Yu phones? Well that’s what some customers had initially thought, but thankfully that does not appear to be the case. Cyanogen has recently posted a message on their blog in which they clear up the misunderstanding, and reassures users that they will not be forgotten.

According to the company, “To clarify misinformation out there, the OnePlus One will get OTA firmware updates for all global devices, including global devices for our users in India. Rather than have misinformation continue to circulate out there, we felt it important to bring this matter to rest.”

In some ways this is a bit ironic given that back in the day, the CyanogenMod ROM was a staple for users who turned to it whenever their OEM decided to forsake the latest update or took too long to push out the latest Android build to their phones. Either way we guess OnePlus users in India have nothing to worry about as far as updates are concerned.
