Developer support is essential for the survival of a software platform in this day and age, and Google wants you to know that it has plenty of developer support for its wearable platform. During the keynote address at Google I/O 2015 today the company revealed that so far developers have created more than 4,000 apps for Android Wear. It was also revealed that Uber is launching an app for this platform, thus enabling Android Wear smartwatches to call you a car.

Many companies are working on virtual reality headsets and while some of them might cost fortunes, there are some that are cheap enough to be in the range of the masses. Google has a completely different approach to virtual reality. Last year it launched Cardboard, a virtual reality viewer and this year at I/O 2015 it has unveiled a new version of Google Cardboard that also has support for the iPhone.

NVIDIA had said in March that it will release the NVIDIA Shield console in May and it has kept its promise. The company announced today that this Android TV powered gaming console is now available for purchase, orders can be placed today at Amazon, Best Buy and NVIDIA’s website. This is the company’s first living room entertainment device and it says that the Shield is going to “redefine your TV experience.”

macbook5kIt was slightly more than a week back that Apple unveiled more affordable 27” 5K iMac models, and here we are with word that the MacBook Pro too, will be receiving 5K support as target display mode is still unavailable for the Retina iMac. In other words, the brand new 15” MacBook Pro model would be the third – and hopefully, not last, Apple machine that ships with the ability to drive high-resolution 5K displays, although Apple’s current flagship 5K device, the the iMac with Retina 5K display, does not come with the hugely popular target display mode feature as mentioned earlier.
