iMac27-Desktop-PR-PRINTEarlier today Apple refreshed the specs of their 27-inch iMacs. Basically all models will now come with 5K displays, where previously there were still options for a non-5K model. That being said apart from the new high-resolution displays and the introduction of Skylake processors from Intel, it seems that the new 27-inch iMacs can support much more RAM than before.

According to OWC (via MacRumors), it seems that they have discovered that the new iMacs include four memory slots, with each slot supporting up to 16GB of RAM. This means that technically the iMacs could be stuffed with 4 x 16GB of RAM, resulting in a whopping 64GB of RAM in total. Read full post →Apple’s New 27-inch iMacs Will Support Up To 64GB Of RAM

YouTube-subscriptions-springProfessional YouTubers know how to attract views and clicks. This can be done by putting in creative titles that will entice viewers to find out more, or they can use interesting thumbnails that captures the attention of the viewer. However to help makes its videos more enticing overall, regardless of who uploaded it, Google is turning to neural nets for help.

For those unfamiliar with neural networks, basically this is like a model in machine learning that is inspired by biological neural networks, like those in our brain (or brains of animals). Ultimately the goal here is to train computers to be able to think like humans, as opposed to merely doing whatever they are instructed to do. xm25-us-army-flickrIf you’ve ever played games like paintball, you know that enemies hiding behind walls and covers are hard to hit. We can only assume that will also apply in real-life situations such as during military encounters. However it seems that come 2016, the US Army will begin acceptance testing for a smart grenade launcher dubbed the XM25.

The XM25 is a smart grenade launcher built by Orbital ATK and has been in the works for several years now. Unlike regular grenade launchers, what makes the XM25 so special is its ability to hit targets that might be standing behind a wall or who are otherwise shielded. All they have to do is point the gun, which has a range of 1,640 feet, at their target or the general location. Read full post →US Army Will Start Testing Smart Grenade Launchers In 2016

iOS has the ability for users to create folders, as is usually the case with most (if not all) mobile operating systems these days. However unlike computers and full-fledged operating systems like Windows or OS X, creating nested folders on mobile operating systems like iOS is simply not possible, at least until now.

Before you get too excited thinking that this is a new feature of iOS 9, it isn’t. Instead what it is is a bug in iOS that allows users to create nested folders. So if you’re really fussy over the way your apps are arranged, maybe you want an Entertainment folder that split further into Videos, Games, Photos, and etc., you can get that now. iMacRetina-2Up-PR-PRINTOne of the configuration options that Apple offers with its iMacs is the ability to opt for a Fusion Drive. In case the name wasn’t already obvious, a Fusion Drive is basically the combination of a regular HDD and an SSD, thus providing both regular storage and flash storage at the same time, kind of like the best of both worlds.

However it seems that in the latest Fusion Drives that Apple is offering with the latest iMacs, the Cupertino company has reduced the flash storage portion of the drive to a meager 24GB. What this means is that it is basically just enough to install the operating system on, thus giving you a faster boot time, but beyond that don’t expect to store much more. apple a8Back in 2014, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) took Apple to court claiming that the Cupertino company had infringed upon its patent. The patent in question is said to have to do with improving processing efficiency and to be more specific, the lawsuit found that Apple’s A7, A8, and A8X processors were the ones that infringed upon it.

Now according to a jury ruling, it seems that they have sided with the WARF in that Apple had indeed infringed upon the University’s patent.  According to a report from Reuters, this is a pretty big deal because it is possible that Apple could be facing damages as much as $862 million. oneplus-mini-amazon-indiaAt the moment there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the OnePlus X and the OnePlus mini. While we have heard rumors that OnePlus could be planning a smaller version of the phone, we have also seen and heard some references made to the OnePlus X, but hopefully all of that will be resolved and cleared up soon.

However in the meantime thanks to a listing on Amazon India, it seems that the alleged specs of the OnePlus mini have been posted online. Now the Amazon page in which the handset was supposedly listed has been taken down, so we can’t tell if the page had even existed at all so it’s best taken with a grain of salt. samsung-game-tunerIt goes without saying that the harder your phone has to work, the more battery it will consume, and in some cases it could end up performing worse because the hardware isn’t powerful enough. However the good news is that Samsung has since published an app called the Game Tuner.

What the app does is that it allows users to adjust their games via the app to make it more manageable on their phones. This means that gamers will be able to adjust settings like the resolution of the game or even its framerate. So if you’re all about performance, the app will let you crank up the resolution and framerate. Read full post →Samsung’s Game Tuner App Lets You Adjust Framerate & Resolution

Nexus-5X-01When building Nexus phones, Google does not manufacture the handsets themselves. Instead they turn to their various partners in the Android industry who will then typically bid for the right to make Nexus devices for the year. So far we have seen Nexus handsets from the likes of HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Huawei.

However it would seem that out of all the handset manufacturers, Google seems to think that LG has done the best job. This is according to Google’s Android Engineer VP Dave Burke, who recently during a video press conference claimed that LG is the best partner for engineering the Nexus smartphone. We’re not sure how Google’s previous OEMs feel about that! Read full post →Google Claims LG Is The Best Nexus Engineering Partner
