Amazon has released a new free game engine and development tool called Lumberyard with visual technology based on CryEngine, a commercial package that’s used by studios like Bethesda and 2K. The only catch here is that games created with this engine can’t read or write data to competing cloud services. Amazon also updated the terms of service for its AWS cloud offering and just to make sure it has all bases covered, it threw in a zombie apocalypse clause as well.

Many Star Wars fans haven’t quite had enough of Episode VII yet but nevertheless, they will be delighted to find out that the sequel is now officially being filmed. It has been confirmed today that Star Wars: Episode VIII is now being filmed. It’s going to take a lot of time for this movie to be ready, though, the release is about a year away.

Tekken 7 has already had its arcade release in Japan but it’s unclear right now when this title is going to be released for consoles. Bandai-Namco has previously confirmed that Tekken 7 will be released for consoles as well but it hasn’t confirmed yet when it’s going to arrive. Meanwhile, a major expansion will be released soon for Japanese arcades, Bandai-Namco today released a trailer for this expansion called Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.

Cord-cutters have pushed networks to embrace online streaming and many of them have either linked up with existing services or launched their own standalone services. HBO launched its own service called HBO Now last year. For $14.99 it provides subscribers with access to streaming of the linear channel as well as the library of content. The company has revealed that HBO Now has close to a million subscribers almost ten months after it was first launched.

Last month Tesla released a new automatic parking feature for the Model X and Model S called “Summon,” the feature enables owners to park their car or pull it out of a parking spot with just one click of a button. They don’t actually need to be in the car to park it or literally summon it. Consumer Reports tested the feature and found that it had a couple of issues, the issues have now been fixed by Tesla.

Microsoft has announced today that a new update for Minecraft feature more gameplay elements is coming out soon. Minecraft Overworld Update is going to be released for both the Windows 10 Edition and Pocket Edition by the end of this month. The Overworld Update will enable players to make advanced mechanical contraptions for their world with additional redstone components. Comparators, repeaters, dispensers, droppers, hoppers, trapped chests and additional Minecart types will be available to players.

Apple CEO Tim Cook was at the Levi’s Stadium for the Super Bowl and soon after the Broncos won he posted a very blurry photo to Twitter. Naturally, the trolls were out in full force, so he got viciously trolled for posting a blurry picture. Some even suggested that he dump his iPhone for a Samsung to take better pictures. The PR machine seems to be active now as that blurry picture has since been replaced with a better shot and has even started banning some of the trolls.

Telltale, the studio best known for making episodic games, has been hard at work on the latest installment of The Walking Dead. Today it confirmed that The Walking Dead: Michonne, a new miniseries that it has been working on, is going to premiere on February 23rd. It’s going to release an extended preview of this miniseries this Sunday.
