Gran Turismo 6s PS3 Launch ExplainedJust last week Sony confirmed the existence of their popular racing game, Gran Turismo 6. Interestingly enough the game was revealed for the PlayStation 3, instead of the PlayStation 4 which many assumed would be the console of choice. Sony did not rule out the possibility that Gran Turismo 6 could arrive on the PS4 in the future, but at the same time Sony has since stepped forward to explain why they decided to choose the PS3 as the console to debut the game on, rather than the PS4.

Speaking with the PlayStation Blog, SCEE CEO Jim Ryan stated that the PS3 still has a lot of potential that Gran Turismo 6’s developer, Polyphony Digital, will be able to make use of. That and the fact that the PS3 has a proven track record of about 70 million units sold will ensure that the game will be able to reach a wider audience quicker than it would with the PS4 whose sales figures remain to be seen. According to Ryan, “And the other factor is that on PS3 we have an install base of 70 million units. On PS4 on launch day we’ll have an install base of zero units […] There’ll be plenty of games to help drive PS4–not least DriveClub in the racing genre from Evolution Studios, a studio with a fantastic pedigree.”

Newspaper Ad Confirms Sony PlayStation 4 Release For 2013While a specific release date for Sony’s latest console, the PlayStation 4, has yet to be revealed, it will be launching in 2013 that much we know. In case the 2013 launch was still a bit hazy for the rest of you guys, Sony seems to have confirmed it themselves thanks to a newspaper ad in which the bottom clearly states, “Coming 2013”. The ad was spotted in The Metro newspaper by Future’s James Jarvis, although to be honest we would have much appreciated a specific date. There has been some speculation surrounding the release of the PS4 console, with some pegging dates in November as a possibility, which was further fueled in an interview in which it was hinted that a release by November would be a possibility as well not just for the PS4, but for Microsoft’s Xbox One console too. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info, and hopefully Sony will have more to share at E3.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Releases 27th August 2013We’re sure that there are many Final Fantasy fans out there who are sick of waiting for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to exit beta and make its way into their hands. Well the good news is that if you are one of those fans, the 27th of August 2013 will be a date you’ll want to mark down on your calendars because it seems that that is the date that Square Enix has revealed to be when gamers will be able to get their hands on the game. Technically we guess this is a re-release since the game was originally released a couple of years ago, but due to bugs and poor response, Square Enix has gone back to the drawing board and came out with A Realm Reborn.

There will also be a Collector’s Edition of the game that more ardent fans of the game can pick up. The Collector’s Edition will sport a limited edition box designed by FF artist Yoshitaka Amano. It will also come with an 80-page hardcover art book, a CD soundtrack, 5 art cards, a physical movie disc that shows the events leading up to A Realm Reborn, and the game itself. It will also come with digital goodies such as a Helm of Light, a Coeurl Mount, the Behemoth Barding armor and a baby Behemoth Minion. So, who’s excited at finally being able to play the game?

Next Gen Google Nexus 7 Reportedly On Track For July ReleaseLast week it was reported that Google’s next-gen Nexus 7 tablet could be going on sale in summer, and according to a new report from Digitimes, it seems that a July release could be possible, assuming of course the report is to be believed. According to Digitimes, electronics manufacturer Elan Microelectronics has begun to ship the touchscreen circuit boards which are meant for use in the new Nexus 7 tablet. Supposedly things have been moving along pretty well and this is apparently ahead of the tablet’s rumored July launch. Of course this is hardly official news, not to mention Digitimes’ track record is somewhat spotty at best. Either way with the success Google has had with the Nexus 7, we wouldn’t be surprised if the company had plans for a successor, although a question of when remains to be seen. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info and with July only a couple of months away, we won’t have to wait too long to see if this rumor pans out.

Sound Pockets iPhone Case Will Provide Better Earphone Cable ManagementDon’t you just hate it when you try to put your earphones in your pocket, but when you pull them out they seem to have gotten themselves in a massive tangle? Well here’s a pretty nifty solution to help with cable management called Sound Pockets. As you can see in the image above, Sound Pockets is actually an iPhone case that comes with a pop-open case at the back in which you can safely stow away your earphones without having to worry about them getting tangled in your pocket. Unfortunately this does add a bit of bulk to your iPhone, but if you’re not too fussed over its bulk then we guess this case would be a pretty useful accessory. The Sound Pocket is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 and can be yours for $35 via Sound Pocket’s website.

Google Rumored To Be Interested In Waze As WellA couple of weeks ago word on the street was that Facebook was interested in acquiring mapping company, Waze. Now thanks to a new report, it seems that Google is having none of it and could be considering starting a bidding war to acquire the company for themselves instead. According to the reports, Waze currently has more than one party interested in them and their technology and are reportedly asking for a price of more than $1 billion , although they might end up remaining independent if they are able to raise money for themselves via venture capital financing.

As Google already has a mapping software of their own in the form of Google Maps, but with the acquisition of Waze, it has been speculated that Google could use Waze’s technology to add a more social aspect to Maps, which we guess in turn could benefit its social network, Google+, which some view as a possible competitor of Facebook. Naturally Waze declined to comment on this new rumor, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Nokia Claims HTC One Infringed Upon Nine Of Its PatentsNokia and HTC are currently embroiled in a legal dispute of sorts, and as if the rumors of HTC having financial difficulties enough, it seems that Nokia will be going after the company’s flagship device, the HTC One. This new lawsuit will make it the second patent infringement claim that Nokia has filed against HTC, claiming that in the HTC One, the Taiwanese company has allegedly violated an addition nine patents belonging to Nokia.

According to Nokia, the patents in question are related to hardware features such as enhanced speech, data transmission, efficient component layout, worldwide roaming capabilities, application data sharing between phones, permission management, video encoding and decoding, and the expanding of a device’s capabilities via applications. The lawsuit has been filed in the US with both the ITC and the US District Court of Southern California. No word from HTC on how they will be responding to this new lawsuit.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition Spotted On Samsungs WebsiteDevelopers if you’re after a phone with an officially unlocked bootloader, it looks like Samsung might have your back. Samsung will apparently be releasing a Galaxy S4 Developer Edition soon thanks to a sighting of the device on Samsung’s website. The device will apparently play nice with both AT&T and Verizon’s network, and just to make it clear, there will not be any difference in hardware from the original Galaxy S4 and its developer edition. It is also different from the Google Edition version of the phone.

For those unfamiliar with developer edition devices, these are devices which basically has its bootloader unlocked, giving developers and modders access to more of the function’s functions that regular users will probably not have much interest in. No word on how much the developer edition of the Galaxy S4 will cost, but since developer edition phones tend to be offered off-contract, you can expect the price to be similar to the Galaxy S4 at retail.

Huawei Ascend P6 Leaked, Possible 18th June AnnouncementIf you love your phones to be super thin, Huawei might have something for you in the form of the Ascend P6. Thanks to @evleaks, press renderings of the device have been leaked and boy it does look like quite a stunner! This is not the first time we’ve heard or seen the device as details of the Ascend P6 and a blurry photo have leaked in the past, but this is probably the clearest shot we have so far. To top it off, it has been reported that Huawei’s own CEO has confirmed the existence of the phone itself according to the folks at TechRadar, although his post on Weibo has since been deleted but not before he revealed that the phone could be announced on the 18th of June in London.

For those who might be hearing about this for the first time, the Ascend P6 is said to be an upcoming device from Huawei running on Android. Alleged specs have given the phone a 4.7” display, a 1.5GHz quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM, and will run with Android 4.X Jelly Bean with a 5MP rear-facing camera sitting on the back. Pricing and stateside availability have yet to be announced, but if the June 18th event in London is happening, hopefully we will be able to learn more then.
