twitpicAccording to a report earlier this month, it was revealed that Twitpic would be shutting its doors on the 25th of September. For those who are unfamiliar with Twitpic, it is a photo sharing service that managed to gain popularity due to Twitter not having a photo sharing feature of their own.

However now that Twitter does have their own, it seems that there have been some disputes between Twitpic and the social network. Now the good news is that if you’re a fan and avid user of Twitpic, it looks like the company will be here to stay. According to a recent message posted on their Twitter account (the irony), it looks like the company has been bought up. rock band network 640x283A few years ago, music games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and DJ Hero were extremely popular, but we suppose over the years interest has waned and the franchise have slowly died off one by one. While Harmonix might not be developing new Rock Band games, the company has long supported the Rock Band Network.

They have maintained the server for several years and it is a place where gamers can go to if they want to buy new songs, create new songs for other gamers, and share music. Unfortunately it looks like Rock Band Network could be saying goodbye in the future as well. This is according to an official post on the Harmonix forums in which the developers announced that they will be ending their support. Read full post →Harmonix To End Support For Rock Band Network

assassins creed movieSo we know that an Assassin’s Creed movie is in the works. In fact it was in 2012 that it was revealed that actor Michael Fassbender (of Inglourious Basterds and X-Men fame) would be starring in it. A report from last year had revealed the movie had been delayed to 2015 and given that we’re almost at the end of 2014, it shouldn’t be too long until we see it, right?

Unfortunately it looks like Assassin’s Creed fans will have to wait one more year. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, inside sources of Fox have revealed to them that the movie has been pushed back once again and will now only debut in 2016. This is apparently due to script rewrites as well as scheduling issues during production. Read full post →Assassin’s Creed Movie Reportedly Delayed To 2016

android l features 640x360At the moment it is still unclear as to when Google’s Android L will be released to the masses. It has been speculated that maybe a release in October could be in the cards, but either way we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. That being said, if you’re looking forward to the update, you might be interested to learn that Android L will come encrypted by default.

This is according to a report from The Washington Post who confirmed via Google spokeswoman Niki Christoff. It seems that Google is apparently following in the footsteps of Apple in which only you will have access to your device. This means that your phone’s passcode will only be known to you and not even Google can unlock it. Read full post →Android L Will Come With Encryption Enabled By Default

Given the time differences, Australia was the first country in which would-be iPhone customers were able to purchase the new iPhones. In fact a recent video surfaced in which it showed an iPhone customer dropping his brand new iPhone while being interviewed about it. It was heart wrenching, although thankfully the device survived.

That being said, the the folks at PhoneBuff on YouTube have recently released a video (check it out above) in which they went ahead and conducted drop tests on both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Given that both devices are said to be short in supply, it does seem a tad wasteful to be dropping and breaking brand new phones, but for the sake of “testing”, we suppose it’s necessary. SM A500 GALAXY A5 1 640x359Just yesterday thanks to a sighting on China’s TENAA (the country’s equivalent of the FCC) website, the Samsung SM-A500 was sighted. Well now thanks to the folks at SamMobile, they have not only managed to get their hands on some photos, but have possibly revealed the handset’s name in the process.

The device is apparently called the Samsung Galaxy A5. This device will be part of the Samsung A-series of smartphones which includes the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Alpha. However unlike the Galaxy Alpha which featured a metal band, the Galaxy A5 has been rumored to sport an all metal design, or a metal-like design. samsung logo 640x480We have heard many times in the past about how Samsung is preparing to launch a Tizen-based smartphone. Samsung has used the platform in other devices like their wearables for example. Earlier this year, Samsung had announced the Tizen-powered Samsung Z, although the handset was delayed and seemingly cancelled.

So what gives? Will Samsung ever launch a Tizen device? Well they will and apparently they will be of the low-end variety, perhaps trying to compete in a market where price might be a priority, as opposed to specs and features, and more importantly where Apple is pretty much non-existent. Slider pic2While BlackBerry has created many QWERTY devices over the years, it is safe to say that the BlackBerry Passport has to be one of their more unique creations to do. For those hearing about the Passport for the first time, it is an upcoming handset from BlackBerry that will feature a QWERTY keyboard.

However the keyboard is also a gesture-based keyboard, meaning that users can swipe over it to perform certain commands, as well as press the keys for regular typing. This cuts out the need for a large touchscreen display as well as the need for a touchpad-like device found in BlackBerry’s other QWERTY devices. That being said, it seems that BlackBerry could be working on newer keyboard-based devices that could be just as interesting, if not more. Intel Smart BowlEarlier this year at CES 2014, Intel unveiled an interesting looking device which was a bowl that offered wireless charging. It was a unique idea since instead of finding an outlet to charge our phones or devices, we can just drop it into the bowl, much like you would with your set of keys and wallet when you get home.

Well the good news is that the concept of the wireless charging bowl was so well-received that Intel has decided to make it a reality. This was announced by Intel’s CEO Brian Krzanich who spoke at the MakerCon conference in New York on Thursday. According to Krzanich, he expects that the device should be released by the holiday season. Read full post →Intel’s Wireless Charging Bowl Will Be Released Later This Year
