Many of us have been waiting for Flash to arrive on mobile devices, and if you’re waiting for Flash 10.1 on Android, you’ll probably require an update sometime in the future for it to work. We previously mentioned that Flash 10.1 should be hitting Android users this year, and we hope that Adobe is still on track to do so. Now, according to Adrian Ludwig, group product marketing manager for Flash Platform, support for the full Flash Player 10.1 will require some enhancements to existing versions of Android. It seems that these enhancements that he mentioned will be available as an upgrade to existing devices and for new devices in Q2 of 2010. Hopefully there won’t be too long a delay to get these enhancements out. After all, we all want to see those annoying Flash advertisements on our mobile phones, right?

Sure, there are plenty of detractors to Apple’s newly announced iPad, but it seems that the folks over in Norway certainly don’t mind it. It turns out that two retailers (Eplehuset and Humac) have already suspended pre-orders for Apple’s iPad, due to it being sold out. Those who have already placed orders will have their spot in line reserved, but if you haven’t, then you’re out of luck. There aren’t any sales statistics just yet, but it’s been hinted that the 64GB iPad with 3G might be the most popular model. It’s also worth noting that most countries aren’t offering pre-orders for this device yet, including Apple in the US. So will Apple eventually win with its iPad and silence its critics? Only time (and sales figures) will tell.

Google’s Nexus One might be the king of Android phones at the moment, but if the rumors are true, then HTC is already busy planning a newer and more powerful phone. A leaked build file has recently surfaced, it is seems that it’s from the HTC Scorpion. It’s hard to confirm anything about these leaks and rumors at the moment, but if it’s true, the Scorpion might be running Android 2.2, and be powered by a 1.5GHz processor. With all this grunt that manufacturers are busy packing into mobile phones, we certainly hope that battery technology is being constantly improved on too. Let’s keep an eye on this, and see what the HTC Scorpion really is.

PureDepth has successfully gotten hold of a Multi-Layer 3D OLED display patent which does away with the need for 3D glasses, offering actual depth thanks to its technology that relies on at least a couple of displays, with one placed in front of the other to create actual 3D effects. PureDepth is definitely looking at mobile devices (among other markets) with this development, since OLED displays are gaining in terms of popularity. This will certainly be a boon as they currently hold LCD-related patents that has just received a kindled spirit. Adapt has sent word that they will be rolling out the ADPP-450 micro projector in March, where this tiny wonder boasts 100 lumens of brightness as well as 800 x 600 resolution, a 200:1 contrast ratio, DVB-T support and the ability to throw images of up to 150" in size. At that blown up proportion, we wouldn't think the image would look very good if you're talking about watching movies, but text and pie charts should do just fine. Despite being possibly the world's brightest micro projector, it will still require a fairly dark room to impress. This LED-based projector comes with a built-in 4 watt speaker and is capable of accepting A/V, VGA, USB and a SD memory card. No idea on pricing, but since its battery is external, you will need to lug around an extra device on your travels.

According to John Koller, director of hardware marketing for SCEA, the PS3 console looks set to ride the 3D wave this year by incorporating 3D-supporting firmware update so that Sony's family of living room entertainment products will play nice with each other, especially the recently announced 3D-capable Bravia TVs at CES 2010. It would be interesting to see whether gamers will adopt 3D gaming as fast as Sony would like them to, after all, doing so would mean selling even more TVs, right?

Texas Instruments' WiLink 7 chip is extremely capable as it touts to be the first chip of its kind to include a quartet of wireless capabilities, all on a single chip. When we say wireless, we mean Bluetooth connectivity, an FM transceiver, GPS support and 802.11n Wi-Fi. With the merging of all four onto a single design chip, phone designers will be able to play around with the physical size as well as energy requirements. According to Texas Instruments, thie WiLink 7 chip requires just half the space as that of a standard multi-chip approach, consuming 30% less requirements as well. As expected, Gmail has a brand new toy for us to play with - Google Buzz. Google Buzz is a brand new way to start conversations about stuff that interests you, while sharing various updates such as photos and videos with your family and friends among others. Since Buzz is already incorporated into Gmail itself, there is nothing to do on your part to make sure everything runs fine. Bear in mind that at time of publishing, Google Buzz might not appear in your Gmail since Google is still in the process of rolling it out worldwide. Sharing information is also made painless and easy, since all responses will be sent by Buzz directly to your inbox in real-time. If you can't be in front of your computer all the time, fret not. Google Buzz is also available on selected cellphones/smartphones. Are you buzzing with excitement?

Belkin has modified its cooler pad design to include a new attachment called the Airflow Wing. This USB-powered cooler pad uses a fan and wave shaped design to enhance circulation and lets the hot air flow up and away from the laptop. It’s currently up for pre-order at Amazon for $24.99, which is a few dollars cheaper than the competitors (who are selling it for $30 or so). Despite the presence of the Airflow Wing, it seems that the cooler pad looks good, and should function rather nicely.

Looks like the OS 5.0.0.464 for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 has been officially released, though it’s not by AT&T, rather by another carrier – Zain Kuwait. If you’re really desperate for this update for your BlackBerry Bold 9000, you can pick it up at the official site, though you’ll want to remember to backup all your files and settings before attempting this. Unfortunately there isn’t any official listing of the updated features on this latest OS version, so if you notice anything different after applying the update, drop us a comment.

Search by SMS never really took off, but by referring to a patent that was recently filed by Yahoo, the company seems like it wants to take a crack at the challenge. In the patent, it’s mentioned that users will be able to use the system by sending a search query as a text message to a predetermined number, after which the search query is processed, and the results delivered, along with some advertisements, to the user. The search-related advertising here might be rather interesting, especially if there is widespread adoption of this technology, it would present a nice revenue stream for Yahoo. Currently the technology is targeted at developing countries, where mobile phone penetration is high, but the Internet services are rather low. Sounds like a rather useful service, though it remains to be seen whether it would be well received and used if it were to be rolled out.

Google will be bringing you the Street View feature all the way from Whistler Mountain, which comprises of "a range of rugged mountains, trails of snow, fir trees and placid lakes below." Doesn't it just boggle the mind as to Google's ability to gather imagery at 7,000 feet above sea level? This was made possible thanks to a snowmobile decked out with cameras that are capable of capturing slope-level imagery of several runs on Whistler Blackcomb Mountains. Apart from that, you will be able to enjoy 3D models and Street View imagery of all the competition venues at the Winter Olympics, alongside new aerial imagery of the Vancouver-Whistler area. Those pretty images just pique one's interest to take a vacation there.

While Apple’s 27-inch iMac has been having some notable problems recently, causing long delays and a possible halt in shipments, it seems that things might be back on track for the fruity company. Folks who have been waiting expectantly for their iMacs to arrive have started to receive notifications that the units will be shipping out soon. An online user who ordered his 27-inch iMac on January 29th has received his shipping email, with the unit set to leave the depot on February 9th, and delivery should take a week. Hopefully this means that Apple has sorted out the various issues that it has been experiencing, such as yellow displays or cracked screens.

AMD has rolled out its latest ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card which is an energy efficient, low-profile DirectX 11 card that targets small form factor PCs. Despite its relatively small size, it still sports full DirectX 11 support, ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology and ATI Stream capabilities. Just as we ought not to judge a book by its cover, let us also not do the same by the size of a video card - in this case, the Radeon HD 5570 is capable of delivering full 1080p HD playback while handing the full Microsoft Windows 7 experience without missing a beat - now how about that!
