Thanks to Microsoft’s Windows 8, we’re starting to see a fair number of hybrid devices being released into the market. For those wondering what we’re talking about, we’re talking about hybrid devices like laptops which have the ability to be transformed into a tablet with a touchscreen interface, albeit a rather big and heavy one. Thanks to the touch interface, interacting with your mobile computer has definitely changed, but is this a trend here to stay or is it merely a novel piece of technology that might fall by the wayside in the future? AMD’s director of mobility, Kevin Lensing, doesn’t seem to think so.

In fact Lensing seems to believe that “the notebook is gone” and that it is on the decline, and hybrid devices like the one we described earlier are here to stay. Lensing did note that not everything is rosy just yet as the form factors of some of these hybrid devices have yet to be perfected and that “the designs aren’t there yet”, and that companies are expected to make several mistakes along the way before discovering what works and what doesn’t. What do you guys think? Will hybrids eventually overtake regular notebooks, or do you think notebooks and tablets can continue to exist side-by-side?

Wedding rings come in all shapes and sizes, from the more classic designs, to the more gamer-centric designs, but here’s a particular design which we’re sure will have both geeks and romantics gushing. As you can see in the image above, the light coming from the ring is not from glittering diamonds, nope, it’s actually coming from a couple of LED lights which has been embedded into it, and what makes it even cooler and romantic is the fact that the LED lights will only turn on when their hands are held by another person, e.g. the husband/wife.

Designed and made from scratch by Ben Kokes, he decided that he didn’t just want to give his wife any ordinary diamond ring, which is why he came up with this idea. The ring features a titanium band and sports several LED lights placed under its surface. A copper wire also runs in the ring and when exposed to the right alternating magnetic field, which Kokes wears under his jacket to conceal the device, will help power the LED lights and turn them on when the couples hold hands. It’s a pretty cool and romantic idea, and if you think you have the chops and resources to make something similar, Kokes has listed out the process on his website.

We’ve been hearing several reports that HTC could be in trouble, what with the HTC First reportedly being discontinued about a month since it was released, and earlier this year the HTC One faced some delays which caused it to launch later than it should, causing the company to give ground to some of their competitors. However for fans of the Taiwanese company, it seems that while the company might have not have achieved the same 10 million milestone mark that Samsung did with the Galaxy S4, they did not do too badly as it has been reported that about 5 million HTC One devices have been sold so far.

This is according to a report from The Wall Street Journal who managed to get their hands on those figures from an unnamed HTC executive. According to the executive, “Orders are pretty good so far and are still more than what we can supply. This is partly due to the shortage of components. When the issue is resolved next month, we will have a better idea if it’s doing really well or not.” If this is true, the HTC One appears to be doing pretty well for itself, but what do you guys think? It was just the other day that Microsoft took the wraps off the Xbox One, but fret not Xbox 360 gamers because Microsoft has not forgotten you! In an interview held with GameSpot, Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer revealed that the company will continue supporting the Xbox 360 for years to come, and that they even had a huge Xbox 360 announcement planned for E3 2013! Spencer seemed pretty excited about the announcement and said that it would be a huge surprise to everyone, although he did not mention what it was. He then followed up by making a reference to last year’s surprise which saw Minecraft brought onto the Xbox 360, suggesting that perhaps this huge announcement could be game-related, rather than hardware. Earlier today we reported on a leak which might have outed two HTC devices, the Desire 200 and Desire 600, and while the Desire 200 has yet to make its appearance, HTC has officially unveiled the Desire 600 Android handset. This is not going to be a powerhouse like the HTC One. Instead, the Desire 600 will be a mid-ranged device that will feature dual SIM slots, and will be the Taiwanese company’s first mid-ranged device to sport HTC’s new Sense 5 UI as well, which we guess for those who can’t be bothered flashing ROMs onto their phones, is good news.

The rest of the specs include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.6MP front-facing camera and a 4.5” display. For those who enjoy listening to songs on their phone or watching videos, the Desire 600 also appears to sport front-facing speakers much like the HTC One, along with Beats Audio integration. No word on how much the HTC Desire 600 will cost, but it is expected to be made available in a number of markets come June 2013. [Press release]

We’ve been hearing some rumor about a Nokia EOS camera, supposedly Nokia’s Windows Phone take on the 808 PureView. While the existence of the device remains in question, another question would be if it were true, when might we be able to see it? Well previous rumors have suggested a 2013 release, and according to the folks at Mobile Geeks, their sources have told them the same thing. According to their source, Nokia is set to launch the Nokia EOS (or whatever it is going to be called) come the second week of July, which they believe could be for the 9^th of July.

Mobile Geeks goes on to “confirm” that the phone will sport a 41MP camera, much like the 808 PureView, and will take photos at a max of 34MP. It will sport a new camera user interface which will supposedly fire off DSLR-like sounds to make it sound more “authentic”. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’re only a couple of months away from July and seeing if this rumor pans out, so check back with us at a later date for the details.

ASUS has been releasing a pretty steady stream of decent products, and if you were hoping to pick up the PadFone Infinity in the US, you might be able to do so soon. While ASUS has yet to make an official announcement of sorts, in response to a customer asking questions regarding the device’s 4G LTE capabilities, an ASUS rep might have accidentally let the cat out of the bag regarding a US launch. A customer asked when ASUS might be developing a US version, and in response the ASUS rep replied by saying that it was a “mystery”, although one might be able to expect more news at Computex 2013 which is pretty much around the corner.

For those unfamiliar with the device, the ASUS PadFone Infinity will sport a 5” Full HD 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, a 2,400mAh battery with the tablet add-on adding an additional 5,000mAh battery, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean running the show. As it stands you can get the PadFone Infinity unofficially in the US, although it will set you back a whopping $950 for just the phone only.

Microsoft and their allies, Nokia, have not been shy at taking pot shots at their competitors, and in the latest Windows 8 ad, Microsoft seems to have taken Siri and turned it against Apple’s very own iPad! Basically the idea behind the ad was to show off what Windows 8 tablets can do, versus the iPad where we can hear Siri protest at how it can only do one thing at a time, a not-so-subtle jab at iOS’ inability to perform true multitasking. The video also seems to bring back some memories from 2012 when Apple first introduced the iPad mini and compared it against the regular iPad, both of which were used to play a rendition of Heart and Soul, versus the new Microsoft ad which basically has the user playing a rather simple song of Chopsticks. While I personally prefer to do my gaming on a desktop, there are some who prefer taking their gaming on the go with gaming laptops. Well if you’re in the market for a gaming laptop, MSI might have a laptop for you, and even better news is that it will most likely run on Intel’s new Haswell chipset. According to the folks at CNET, the MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 is expected to pack a new Intel Haswell chip along with a mysterious NVIDIA GTX780M GPU which according to the reports, will be able to deliver a 3DMark Vantage benchmark score of 36,000 which is supposedly the kind of score you can find from a desktop GPU like the GTX670. Other specs of the MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 laptop include a SteelSeries-branded keyboard, multiple SSDs, three video outputs, all of which are packed into a 2.9kg package. No word on pricing or the rest of the specs yet, but MSI is expected to share more details at Computex, so if the MSI GT70 is a gaming laptop you’d like to get your hands on, check back with us during Computex 2013 for the details!

The existence of Apple’s alleged iWatch device remains unknown at this point in time, but that hasn’t stopped the rumors from making their rounds, and if you were hoping to see such a device in 2013, think again. According to KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, who has had a pretty decent track record when it comes to Apple rumors and such, the earliest we might be able to see the alleged iWatch is only in 2014. So what’s the hold up, you ask?

Well according to Kuo, Apple might be finding it a bit hard to get enough resources to make an iOS version that will play nicely with the new form factor of the iWatch’s alleged 1.5” display. Considering that previous rumors had suggested that Apple is pulling members from the OS X team to help with iOS 7, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple really couldn’t spare the manpower for another team to help shrink iOS down to fit on the device. Kuo also seems to believe that Apple will be modeling the first iWatch off the iPod nano design, which does make sense when it comes to watch sizes, is a bit disappointing as we might have expected something a little more different.
