Starting today all those who pre-registered for the new internet TV service called Sling TV can start using the service once their invites roll in. Sling will allow them to test it out for a week absolutely free before they have to pay the $20 per month subscription fee. The internet TV service can be accessed through a variety of devices, Xbox One is the only console that supports it, but unfortunately the Sling TV app for Xbox One isn’t quite ready yet.

Last week we reported that Google Fiber might soon be launched in four major metropolitan areas. Today a blog post from the company has confirmed the new Google Fiber cities. 18 cities across four major metropolitan areas that include Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham will receive the service. These cities were already part of Google’s proposed list of cities to which it could expand Fiber to.

Misfit has announced some new partnerships that will allow its fitness tracking wearable devices to do much more than what they’re currently capable of. These partnerships essentially put your wrist in charge if you use a lot of connected objects. The company has partnered up with companies like Nest, August, Logitech and If This Then That (IFTTT) and as a result its Flash and Shine fitness and sleep monitors will be able to interact with apps and smart hardware.

Apple today released a new software update for OS X 10 Yosemite. It primarily brings bug fixes and improvements. With this software update Apple has fixed many Wi-Fi related issues that have been plaguing Yosemite users. Improvements for iCloud, VoiceOver, Bluetooth headphones and Safari are also included.

Apple has come under fire from critics ever since iOS 8 was released because the new software required a substantial amount of storage to be available on the device before it can be installed. Most users are running on fumes as far as free storage goes these days so one can imagine what a pain it would be to either move or delete data to make space for the update. Apple has finally released an update to fix that. iOS 8.1.3 also brings additional bug fixes and improvements and stability as well as performance.

Its proving to be a good day for Apple Pay. A few hours back Western Union announced support for Apple Pay meaning that the service can now be used to fund money transfers and bill payments. Now USA Technologies has pushed out a press release announcing support for Apple Pay at over 200,000 self-serve and vending machines across the country.
