Recent scientific developments point to the existence of an Earth-size planet orbiting the closest star to the Sun: Proxima Centauri (4.2 light years, 26 Trillion miles).  The planet is at the right distance to its star to have liquid water, the essential element of life as we know it. pokemon go japanIn Tokushima Prefecture (south of Japan), Police forces have confirmed that a road accident that killed a woman was Japan’s first Pokemon-Go related fatality. Another woman was hit during the incident and was badly injured. The two victims are 60 and 72-year-old and the suspect is a 39-year-old man who was playing the game while driving. SpaceX has already demonstrated multiple times that it’s more than capable of landing its reusable Falcon 9 rocket back on Earth after it completes a mission in space. It’s the only private space company that has managed to successively land the rockets on a floating barge out at sea. SpaceX will eventually be refurbishing and relaunching these rockets, it’s now building facilities in Florida where rockets will be refurbished.

Best Buy was one of the first retail partners that Oculus signed up to demonstrate its Rift virtual reality headset. It first started demoing the Rift back in May at select locations across the country but the retailer is now going all in. Best Buy is going to demo Oculus Rift headsets at 500 stores across the United States in time for the lucrative holiday season.

Google’s Wi-Fi Assistant is a feature that was previously exclusive to users of its Project Fi cell service. The feature lets a Nexus device automatically connect to countless open and free Wi-Fi hotspots in a bid to reduce cellular data use and provide better mobile data speeds. Google today confirmed that it’s expanding Wi-Fi Assistant to all Nexus smartphones and that the feature is no longer a Project Fi exclusive.

There are countless Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible on the Xbox one and now one rather popular game has been made backwards compatible for the current-generation console. Call of Duty: Black Ops was made backwards compatible in May this year and now Microsoft has added Call of Duty 2 to this list. Xbox One owners can now play this game on their console.

Halo developer 343 Industries has confirmed today that Halo 5: Forge map making tool is going to be released for PC next month. It’s going to be released on the Windows Store and will enable Halo 5 players to create levels and maps on their PCs. Forge will also enable players to host and play custom multiplayer matches in Halo 5 as well. The best part is that Halo 5: Forge is going to arrive as a free download on Windows.

Microsoft today confirmed the titles that Xbox Live Gold members will receive for free as part of their subscription. Members will get four new free games this month – two for Xbox One and two for Xbox 360. Since the Xbox 360 titles are backwards compatible this means that Xbox One owners actually get four free games as part of their Xbox Live Gold subscription. There are some great titles included in this month’s lineup.
