You remember the Zii Trinity we mentioned to you a few days ago, right? Well, it seems that the lucky folks over at CNET Asia have managed to get hold of a unit and they’re posted a video about it. It seems that the ZiiLife service will be divided into ZiiMeet, ZiiVue, Zii Academy and ZiiApps. Check out the video here.

While the Samsung Corby S3650 was officially announced only in GSM versions, it seems that there might be a CDMA version of it being released in India, which would certainly be good news for Reliance and Tata networks, which use CDMA. If everything goes smoothly, the Corby S3650 will be India’s first CDMA touchscreen phone to offer access to popular social networking sites. The phone should be priced around 10,000 INR ($216).

While Motorola is certainly enjoying the success of the Motorola Droid, it’s also looking forward to the future, and the company has recently announced an investment in a firm called Sensitive Object. Sensitive Object has apparently developed a technology that can analyze acoustic waves from the point of contact on the screen. What does that mean? Well, it could potentially give any device touch screen capabilities. We’ll be keeping an eye on this to see how it develops.

This is still firmly in the “rumor” bin, but it does sound interesting, so we brought it up. The Google phone that we mentioned a little while back has the codename “Passion”, which might indicate the HTC Passion. There’s supposedly an expected launch in the first 2 weeks of January (which is just around the corner). The rumor also indicated that the phone will be available on T-Mobile’s network, which would probably be good news for folks who are on T-Mobile’s network. There’s also mention of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 4.3-inch multitouch display. Do you think that there is any substance in this rumor? There’s no way of confirming this just yet, but keep your ears peeled for more information!

If you’re not fond of cables and wires, this is probably going to be your worst nightmare, but this is actually posted as an art piece and labeled “A Parallel Image”. Basically it addresses the concept of what things would be if we were never graced by serial data transmission. Imagine putting something like this in your living room.

In a recent blog posting, Avast has confirmed that it will be offering users the option to install Google Chrome when they install Avast antivirus on their computers. The company stresses that they’re not trying to force Chrome on users; rather it’s just something that they recommend. Will this make a difference in the current browser wars? The recent HTC Android 2.1 ROM leak filled us in on some of the codenames for upcoming HTC devices, now it seems more information of the HTC Espresso has surfaced, thanks to a recently discovered profile. According to it, the Espresso will sport a 528MHz processor, a QWERTY keyboard and a 320 x 480 display. It sure sounds like a HTC Hero with a QWERTY keyboard, doesn’t it?

Could this Gryphon Next Generation Parachute System replace traditional parachutes in the future? This project of the Special Parachute and Logistics Consortium would allow parachuting soldiers to get far away (about 30 miles), not only that, they’d be invisible to radar. Looking at the picture, we can’t help but think the guy who was attempting the first intercontinental Jetpack flight would have welcomed this technology. Maybe they should work together, eh?

We’ve all heard weird stories about people who accidentally expose their identities when after they commit a crime. Now we’re found another one to add to your collection of theft stories. A Philadelphia teenager turned himself in to the police after his self-portrait was captured on a cell phone he was accused of stealing. What he didn’t know was that the phone was programmed to send pictures back to the owner’s home computer. After the owner passed the photo to the police, the person accused of theft turned himself in. The police should be fairly happy for the help received on this case, wouldn’t they?

It certainly seems like Twitter is taking over the world bit by bit, which shouldn’t surprise anyone has been around the Internet recently. Despite all its popularity, Twitter’s mobile site hasn’t really been the best thing around. It looks like Dell is going to get more serious in the smartphone scene. Aside from the recent Mini 3i phone, Dell has come up with a new communications division which will head up development of smartphones, along with other devices. The division will be headed by Ron Garriques, previously from Motorola. This division will also most likely be the one to oversee the last-stage development of the Streak, Dell’ Android-powered MID (mobile Internet device).

Those of you who have been eagerly awaiting Intel’s Larrabee discrete graphics chip will be disappointed. In the latest news, Intel has admitted that the chip is behind schedule and will only appear as a "software developer platform" next year - if ever, and that could mean that consumers won't see it until the year after, in our opinion. There is still no word on performance (or expected performance) and our best bet is that it is just really hard to compete with discrete GPUs. This is speculated to be the main reason for a delay that could turn into a complete cancellation.

Google looks like it’s taking Google Wave very seriously, and now the latest announcement is that AppJet has been acquired by Google. In case you aren’t familiar with it, AppJet is responsible for EtherPad, an online service that would let groups of people edit documents collectively on a “pad”. In the announcement, the team has confirmed that it will continue to work on real-time collaboration with Google’s Wave team. Unfortunately folks who are currently using EtherPad will only have until March 31st 2010 to continue using the service, after which all pads will be deleted. Check out the full press release here.
