assassins creed piratesHeads up Windows Phone users! While one developer might be pulling out of the Windows Phone scene for now, another one comes back in, well, sort of. You might recall that about a month ago, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Pirates on Windows Phone, although they quickly pulled the game due to numerous reports of crashes amongst other things.

Well the good news that it looks like Ubisoft could have addressed the issues because the game has finally made its way back into the Windows Phone Store. However this time around if you haven’t already gotten it, you will have to fork out $4.49 for the game, but if you’re a fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, perhaps you could justify paying for it. candy crush saga sodaWhat makes a smartphone platform popular? Well for starters we guess the number of apps available on it helps make it more appealing to users in general, although it’s something of a vicious cycle as developers tend to choose platforms with more users. That being said, it seems that King, the developer of titles such as Candy Crush, have been reported to have halted their developments for the Windows Phone platform.

This is according to Pocketgamer.fr (via WMPowerUser) who revealed that development of King’s Windows Phone games have been put on hold for now. The game have reportedly been in development since January this year, and apparently due to the lack of growth, and in some markets the decline of Windows Phone’s market share, forced King to suspend its developments. top drift 640x551While roaming the alleys of Global Mobile Vision (GMV), I’ve stumbled on the Motion Device (a Korean company) booth in which a Top Drift motion simulator was being demonstrated. I jumped into it and had a really good time. The concept is seemingly simple: use 3 hydraulic cylinders to move a platform around 2 axes (pitch, roll), and rotate the whole system around the Y-axis (pointing up) to allow for left/right (yaw) motion. However, there are not a lot of competitors in this space.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (photo taken with Canon PowerShot SX150 IS)

Released in July 2014, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (after the 10.5-inch display) is touted as “The Next Big Thing.” Those who like to nitpick semantically might point out the Galaxy Tab S is physically smaller than the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro with a 12.2-inch display, released almost a year earlier.

With a listed price of $499, the Galaxy Tab S is priced lower than the Galaxy Note Pro ($749), but is going neck to neck with the iPad Air. Samsung is pitching the Galaxy Tab S as an entertainment device: “Entertainment comes alive on the [Galaxy Tab S’s] Super AMOLED display,” says its online description. Verizon is the largest carrier in the U.S. and it does not support Wi-Fi calling on its network even though T-Mobile, which is the fourth largest carrier, has support for this feature. It would be unfair to assume that since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have support for Wi-Fi calling Verizon would some how hurry up and add this functionality. Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said that the company has built its network in a way that subscribers never need to use Wi-Fi to complete their call, which is why this feature is not a priority for them.
