oppo r8205It does look as though the probability is extremely high for China-based smartphone manufacturer Oppo to roll out a couple of new handsets that will make up part of its R smartphone range – after appearing on the TENAA website. Having said that, such an appearance is more often than not a shadow of things to come – which tends to be followed up by an official announcement not too long afterward. Both handsets have been called the R8200 and R8205 at time of publishing, where they are not only close in terms of naming convention, but also happen to be near identical in hardware specifications, apart from the R8205 offering support for CDMA networks – everything else are similar.

nokia c1It was slightly more than a month ago when we talked about how Nokia revealed the N1 tablet that ran on the Android platform – which is a welcome change from all of the Windows Phone devices that Nokia had been churning out all this while. Having said that, here is what looked set to be another smartphone follow up by Nokia, arriving in the form of the Nokia C1, although it has been discovered later on that this is but a fan-made render of what could have been the Nokia 900.

If you happen to be a diehard Samsung smartphone, phablet or tablet user, then I am quite sure that you have been patiently waiting for the most recent mobile operating system update. In this case, we would be talking about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in particular. Samsung is well known for being rather slow when it comes to rolling out the most recent Android software updates, although it does seem as though the leaked video above – as well as a couple more right after the jump, will point to the possibility of a faster Lollipop release for high end Samsung devices.

ascend mate 7plus rumorWhat you see above happens to be a possible snapshot of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Plus, although nothing has been confirmed just yet. Of course, it is just a leaked photo, so it is only a matter of time before everything is confirmed – or debunked. What has been revealed so far, however, does seem to point to extremely thin side bezels, while the bezel which is right at the top of the phone happens to be rather thin, too. There is also a speaker grill which is located on the bottom rear of the unknown device, which will run close to the entire width of the handset.

g2 android501The LG G3 might be the existing flagship smartphone from the South Korean consumer electronics giant, but this does not mean that the company will neglect the LG G3’s predecessor, which would be the aptly named LG G2. The LG G2 is still no slouch when it comes to performance, where it continues to offer one of the best screen-to-body ratios in the market, sporting a camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) technology, and a battery that packs quite a punch for the discerning road warrior, so much so that it is good news to hear that it is about to be on the receiving end of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in due time, based on leaked screenshots as seen on the right.

snake robotNow here is a robot that might just freak you out – it does not look like any kind of humanoid killer bots such as in the Terminator movies, and neither does it resemble the sentinels in the recent X-Men: Days of Future Past movie earlier this year. In fact, what you see above could very well be something from a cybernetic future, where it comes in the form factor of a creepy robot snake. Of course, this will not be toxic in any way, and neither does it catch mice – although it will be handy when deployed in disaster zones.

BlackBerry LogoWhen the name Boeing is mentioned, chances are you probably think of planes, but recently the company has decided to venture into the smartphone market with the release of the Boeing Black smartphone, a smartphone aimed at users who prioritize privacy and security above all else.

touch id pattern lock 640x386Touch ID is a feature Apple introduced in the iPhone 5s that allowed users to unlock their phone and enter their Apple ID password without having to type anything as it uses fingerprint recognition. While it does seem to be pretty secure enough, could it be even more secure? Well an Apple patent discovered by AppleInsider seems to suggest so.

According to the patent filed by Apple, it seems that they are considering combining the use of Touch ID along with pattern unlocking as you can see in the image above. From what we can tell, basically you can draw out the pattern via Touch ID meaning that there would be a double layer of security (your fingerprint and the correct unlock pattern). rockstar gta5 freebieSwatting is a process in which someone prank calls the police and informs them that a shooting or hostage situation is going on in another location, thus forcing the police to react by bringing out all their big guns and ultimately scaring the pants off the innocent victim in the process. Well it looks like over in the UK, a man by the name of David Helens did the same thing, except that he called the police to the house he was in.

According to a report from the Mirror, Helens made the call to the police after what was a reportedly long session of Grand Theft Auto V. During the call, he claimed that his “friend” Max had suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest and was slipping in and out of consciousness, and that he was bleeding badly and thought that he might be dead. apple pay 002 640x360A few months ago Apple launched Apple Pay, the Cupertino company’s take on mobile payments. We guess one could say Apple is a bit late to the game given that other companies have already launched similar services, but we guess it’s thanks to the Apple marketing machine that has allowed Apple Pay to become mainstream news.

So how popular is Apple Pay? Well according to a recent report from research firm ITG, they are suggesting that Apple Pay accounts for 1% of all digital payments. While 1% isn’t a lot, we should point out that there are plenty of other digital payment options out there. Also to put it into perspective, Google Wallet which was launched a few years ago currently accounts for 4% of digital payments.
