Samsung has a habit of releasing multiple variants of its flagship devices. Usually there’s little difference between these variants, the most common being Samsung’s own Exynos processors instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, and these are distributed as per particular market requirements. Some variants tend to be limited to one country, take the Galaxy note 4 S-LTE (SM-N916) for example, which is destined for launch in South Korea next month.

Christmas is a time when many companies and online services offer great deals to their users, some even give away stuff for free as part of the holiday celebrations. For example this year Amazon gave away applications worth $220 for free, while other services had their own offerings. Apple has been doing something similar for the past six years, known as “12 Days of Christmas” or “12 Days of Gifts,” but it appears to have halted the promotion this time around.

The Consumer Electronics Show 2015 is just around the corner. In about a weeks time hundreds of companies from around the world will gather in Las Vegas to show us the technology we will be talking about in 2015. A report out of Denver brings to light a rather interesting incident that occurred a week ago. A man purchased one PlayStation 4 bundle from a Walmart in Stapleton, Colorado and was surprised to find two bags of rocks inside the box instead of the console. Its not uncommon to hear about people being duped, but usually its limited to purchases made off of Craigslist or eBay, rarely does one expect this to happen at a major retail chain. Bungie’s much awaited title was released a few months back and it did well with gamers around the world. Destiny’s first expansion was released only a couple of weeks back and over the weekend the developer made available a Strange Coin vendor at the Tower. Unfortunately due to the DDoS attack on online gaming services many gamers were unable to take advantage of Xur’s presence which is why Bungie has decided to extend Xur’s stay for a day or so.

2014 has been a really bad year for some online services, which also means that hackers have had a great year. Initially there were some threats made before Christmas that a hack attack would be launched over the holiday and the group behind it has followed through. A Twitter account which claims to be affiliated with notorious hacker group Anonymous has leaked a massive trove of username and password credentials apart from credit card numbers.

It was on Christmas Eve when we first reported that online gaming networks of both Sony and Microsoft were under attack. At the time PSN and Xbox Live were restored after a couple of hours but who knew that the attackers won’t sit still over Christmas.

Both services were knocked down on Christmas inconveniencing a lot of people who would have wanted to get some good gaming sessions in, it would have also been very agitating for people who received a new console over Christmas only to be denied the chance to get in on some multiplayer action with people around the world.
