Intel is in the news today for reasons other than upcoming processors. Reuters claims that a leaked internal email suggests that Intel CEO Brian Krzanich has re-organized various groups with in the company and also created a “new devices” group. Brian has apparently initiated this re-organization shortly after taking over from long time CEO Paul Otellini. No major details are available as yet regarding this new unit, it is not even know for now what exactly this unit is supposed to be doing.

Perhaps this unit will be tasked with convincing manufacturers of current and upcoming products that their devices will be better off with Intel’s chips. One far fetched speculation can be that perhaps Intel is looking in to manufacturing entire devices of its own, expanding its product line from chips to actual devices such as mobiles or tablets? The latter seems less likely to be honest. For all we know, the “new devices” unit may be tasked with manufacturing products for new emerging technologies. It is also being reported that ex Apple and Palm employee Mike Bell will be at the helm of this unit. The company is yet to comment on this.

François Beaufort, an engineer at Google, has revealed that the company is working on bringing the Chrome OS app launcher to Mac OS X. No exact release date has been given for the final version, though Beaufort does point towards a beta version that is available for download now. Chromium will need to be installed before one gets the beta Chrome app launcher on OS X. The app launcher presents users a very simple and easy way to launch Chrome web apps.

Once Chromium is installed, clicking on its dock icon will bring up a list of web apps installed from Chrome store. Through this list any web app can be launched. The caveat with this beta version is that once one app has been launched, and if another is to be launched, it can only be done through the Chrome browser window. Not through the list which pops up when the Chromium dock icon is clicked. This final version will obviously work exactly the way it will be supposed to, but there’s no saying when Google will ultimately release it.

Pandora allows users to create custom radio stations, the service is quite simple and one of the most widely used ones in this particular niche. Today, it announced the launch of Pandora Premieres, a station which will be used to preview upcoming albums of established as well as new artists before they are released. Pandora will allow Premieres users to listen to any track being previewed, in any order they desire. This is different than iTunes, which only previews such tracks in a continuous stream.

Pandora Premieres will be available for paying and non-paying members alike. Two albums will be previewed initially, Once I Was an Eagle by Laura Marling and Wrote a Song for Everyone by John Fogerty. Pandora says that it will feature new albums every week on this station, as well as exclusive content such as video interviews of artists. Users simply need to such for Pandora Premieres in the search box to be able to hear albums being previewed before their actual release. T-Mobile is the debut sponsor of Premieres, this sponsorship will run through the end of 2013.

During today’s coverage of the Xbox One, I think that most will agree that the epic reveal of Call of Duty Ghost was the best moment of the show. As a former game developer, I’ve always been impressed  by the quality of the work in this franchise, and since they’ve given us a peak at the production of Call of Duty Ghost, I wanted to do a quick overview of the technology behind this rather impressive title and how it relates to the Xbox One.

It’s quite obvious that a next-gen title would feature a discontinuity in computer graphics quality when compared to the existing Xbox 360 and PS4. Call of Duty (CoD) Ghosts doesn’t disappoint and this is thanks to a few critical things which were not possible with current-gen consoles. Keep in mind that beyond the “specs”, a huge part of how good it looks is the result of the sheer talent of the game artists and graphics engineer working on this title. Kudos to them.

BlackBerry confirmed at its Live 2013 conference that T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint will be carrying its Q10 smartphone in the U.S. While these three carriers have separate release dates for the device, all of them are lined up for a summer release. The Q10 is going to be the first BlackBerry 10 device that Sprint will carry, it decided not to carry the flagship Z10 smartphone. The company says that its chapter with BlackBerry doesn’t stop with the Q10, adding that there’s more to come from the manufacturer, hinting that it might carrying a new BlackBerry device, one that is perhaps due to release later this year.

Lois Fagan, product portfolio director at Sprint, siad that “there’s more to come,” despite going in to details of what this new device is going to be. Perhaps the carrier is referring to BlackBerry Q5, a mid-range smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen, though its essentially be developed for the budget market. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins has already said that the company will release multiple “exciting” devices including a new flagship later this year. We’ve already been treated to the mid-range Q5, which begs the question, what’s next from BlackBerry?

Target is now selling the 8GB white Nintendo Wii U console for $239 as opposed to the full retail price of $299. That is a $60 price cut, though it is a bit too soon to say that this cut will encourage more customers to pick up this console, which has apparently been moving off the shelves very slowly. Many analysts have already reported that Wii U sales have been very disappointing in the last couple of months, Nintendo claims the reason for this is that there’s a lack of software titles. The company says the need to aggressively focus on this and it hopes to curb this problem by the end of the year.

Many retailers do not offer discounts on the Nintendo Wii U, Target is offering the biggest discount by far, even surpassing Amazon’s $279.99 price tag for this console. However the 32GB black Wii U will still set customers back the usual retail price of $349.99. If you have been considering buying this console, now is perhaps the best time to waltz in your local Target and pick one up for a steal.

Sprint is already said to be gearing up to offer the LG Optimus G Pro smartphone on its network. Apparently that is not all the carrier will be adding from LG. Rumor has it that LG Optimus F3 is also coming to Sprint, an alleged press shot of this device has been leaked by none other than infamous Twitter account @evleaks. This particular source has a very solid track record, so perhaps it won’t be an exercise in futility to look upon the possibility of Sprint carrying LG Optimus F3.

The F series of smartphones was announced by LG at Mobile World Congress 2013. The idea behind this particular line of smartphones was to bring LTE connectivity to the masses at an affordable price. Said to have a 4 inch WVGA screen with dualcore processor and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, it is rumored that Sprint will announce the LG Optimus F3 in the next few weeks and will price it “aggressively” on contract. As far as LG Optimus G Pro is concerned, AT&T is already selling it in the U.S., Sprint is expected to release in towards the end of next month.

Microsoft announced its next-generation Xbox, which they called the Xbox One, during their global unveiling earlier today. Before the company dissected the console for the world to see what’s running under the hood, they highlighted a number of features and services that makes navigating and accessing multiple applications easily.

One of the first features Microsoft unveiled with its Xbox One was its ability to instantly switch between applications simply by talking to the console. Switching between games, live TV, music and movies was all seamless and resulted in the requested applications to become available as quick as changing the channel on a TV remote control.

We reported last month that a possible confirmation for 802.11ac Wi-Fi support was hidden in the code of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4 beta version. The term 802.11ac might be confusing for a lot of readers, basically it refers to the next generation Wi-Fi standard, which is also some times referred to as 5G or Gigabit Wi-Fi. It is heavily being rumored that the new Mac lineup is going to be announced at WWDC 2013, and prior to that, an alleged wireless card for new Macs has popped up online which hints at support for high speed 802.11ac wireless internet.

The card in question is a Broadcom BCM94360CD PCI-E mini custom combo WLAN+Bluetooth card, which would theoretically allow speeds of up to 1.3Gbps. The range is said to significantly improve as well. It was rumored previously that Apple had inked a deal with Broadcom to put its 802.11ac cards in the 2013 Macs, and with the increasing rumors of new Mac lineup being just around the corner, perhaps we wouldn’t have to wait so long for an official confirmation from Apple on this after all.

Today, Microsoft has revealed what the next Xbox is. It’s called Xbox One, and a big part of any game console launch is to know what hardware will power the box for the next decade. For buyers, this will be their longest-term consumer electronics “investment” so  Microsoft gave the world some important information about it, and here are the specs thus far:
