In September 2013 Pinterest launched a beta program which showed users promoted pins from a selected group of advertisers in category feeds and search results. This was part of CEO Ben Silbermann’s monetization strategy for the online service which has been around for some five years. Promoted Pins went live for all users earlier this year and now Pinterest is going to test animated ad pins.

Popular Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is expanding to Europe. Currently the company sells its devices in China and other emerging markets in Asia. It has done very well for itself in the region. At Mobile World Congress 2015 Xiaomi global vice president Hugo Barra revealed that the company is expanding to Europe. Though instead of selling smartphones Xiaomi is going to start off in the West by selling accessories.

It was rumored recently that Google might pick a Chinese company to manufacture the next Nexus device. For its previous devices the company linked up with Motorola. We reported earlier this week that the YotaPhone 2 could arrive in the U.S. this summer. Many would have expected LG to unveil its new flagship at the Mobile World Congress 2015. Its rivals HTC and Samsung did so but LG had made it quite clear before this event that it will not be showing off the LG G4 in Barcelona. Instead the company is going to conduct a separate event in a couple of months to show off its latest flagship smartphone. There is speculation in the industry now that G4’s flagship status might not live that long as LG is expected to unveil a new high-end smartphone later this year.

It was announced a couple of weeks back that AMC will soon be available to Sling TV subscribers. Today Sling TV has flipped the switch and its subscribers can stream the network that has provided us with hits like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. Konami was supposed to make an announcement today and it had already started teasing that earlier this week, but yesterday’s leak spoiled its plans.
