malware airSometimes bugs in software exist that never get discovered or fixed, simply because the conditions it takes to produce them are extremely complicated which is why they might have gone unnoticed during testing. A good example was about a little more than a week ago that Microsoft had finally patched a 19-year old Windows bug.

Now that’s just a bug, imagine if it is a piece of malware that has been lurking for many years on end, which is something the folks at Symantec (via The Next Web) have recently discovered. Dubbed Regin, apparently this is a piece of malware that has been present in Windows-based PCs for the past few years. microsoft logoEarlier this year at MWC 2014, Microsoft made an appearance, although it was namely to announce new Windows Phone partners. Well for those wondering if Microsoft will be making an appearance at 2015’s MWC, it seems that they will, thanks to a leaked website, Microsoft’s presence at MWC 2015 has been “confirmed”.

Of course we will wait for the official announcement or confirmation, although the idea of Microsoft making their presence felt isn’t such a stretch of the imagination. After all it was earlier this year that the sale of Nokia’s cellphone division to Microsoft was officially completed, not to mention Microsoft had recently made the Lumia brand official by dropping the Nokia name. The World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor might not have introduced new classes or  races to the game, but what it did introduce was updated character models which we’re sure many gamers will agree was a long time coming. Blizzard has updated the animation and textures for some of the races in the game, such as the Undead, Orc, Tauren, Troll, Human, Night Elf, Dwarf, and Gnome.

These new models feature less “flat” textures and look more “realistic”, at least as far as Blizzard’s art style is concerned. They have better animations and better facial features, and if you’re curious as to what went on behind the scenes, Blizzard has released a new video which features the developer’s senior art director Chris Robinson. cod glitch 640x411As much as developers and publishers would love for a game’s launch to go off without a hitch, the reality is that sometimes games are launched with game breaking bugs that might have not been detected during testing. Sometimes there are graphical glitches that can be funny, and for the most part a patch or two should resolve everything.

Now we’ve seen our fair share of glitches uploaded onto YouTube in the past, but it looks like Activision is trying to paint itself as a flawless company because according to reports, it seems that Activision has started to target more than a few Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare glitch videos for copyright strikes. psn 640x360A few years ago, Sony landed themselves in some hot water when it was discovered that PSN was hacked. The issue wasn’t so much that they got hacked, but rather it stemmed from the fact that Sony knew its defences were obsolete but did nothing about it anyway. That being said, we guess we can’t blame gamers for feeling paranoid whenever PSN goes down.

According to a report from CNET, it seemed that the hacker group that claimed responsibility for the DDoS on Blizzard’s servers also claimed to have hacked PSN which apparently led to more than 2,000 logins being compromised. Well Sony has since come forward and denied that any attack had taken place on their servers. Read full post →Sony Denies Claims That PSN Was Hacked

samsung galaxy s5 review 031 640x360Samsung’s Galaxy S-series of handsets have typically sold very well over the years, but could the fifth iteration of the Galaxy S be showing signs of a slow down? Well according to a report from The Wall Street Journal (paywall; via The Verge), it seems that cold be the case, so much so that Samsung could be thinking about making some changes at the executive level.

According to the report, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has sold less than what Samsung had initially projected. The phone is said to have sold 12 million units in its first three months of going on sale. This is actually a stark contrast to earlier reports which revealed that the handset actually outsold its predecessor on launch day, but assuming these numbers are accurate, we guess interest in the handset quickly dwindled over the next few months.
