Benchmark websites like NenaMark are great places to discover new, unannounced devices and this week it looks like we’ve got an upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. According to reports online, the phone was spotted on NenaMark’s benchmark listings; however instead of the TI OMAP 4460 with a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU found in the current Galaxy Nexus, it was listed as packing a PowerVR SGX 544 GPU – one that is found in the TI OMAP 4470 processor.

Now, there’s no way for us to confirm that it really is an upgraded Galaxy Nexus – it is possible to spoof the names of the GPU or the device (though why anybody would want to do that is another story). But with Sprint getting the Galaxy Nexus LTE later this year, there’s a chance that it could feature upgraded internals as well: after all, they’ve got to give folks a reason to pick up an older device. We all know that Amazon has sold “millions” of Kindle Fire tablets, but what the exact figure is – we’re not so sure. According to an estimation by Jordan Rohan, an analyst at Stifel Nicolas, – the company sold 6 million units of the Android tablet in the last quarter alone. He also believes that the Kindle and the Kindle Fire have effectively become the 3^rd major mobile ecosystem after Apple iOS and Google Android – something that competing tablet manufacturers and app developers should take note of.

Amazon will be revealing its Q4 2011 results tomorrow, so hopefully we’ll find out the real number then. But it looks like the Kindle Fire is proving to be a hit for Amazon, despite the company reportedly not making any money from sales of the hardware. What do you think? Is 6 million an accurate estimate of Kindle Fire sales, or should the number be lower or higher?

On January 18th, it was hard to miss what was the largest (digital) protest in world’s history as millions of people, and the largest internet companies stood up against the proposes SOPA and PIPA laws (watch the 5mn “what is SOPA” video here). If you don’t know what SOPA and PIPA are, both are basically law proposals that would end up making it impossible to have user-generated content sites and services like YouTube, WordPress.com, Disqus, or even Ubergizmo because if one user or commenter uploads a copyrighted image, or content, the whole site could be taken down. Today, websites are required to remove that content and most are actively participating in the fight against piracy. To date, both laws have been put on hold, but not eliminated.

Most importantly, Barack Obama has shown a real motivation to connect with people in a two-way communication setting, where citizens can actually ask questions and get answers directly from the president.

According to the official Youtube blog, today at 2.30 pm PT (5.30 pm ET), President Obama will connect face-to-face with people across America over a live Google+ Hangout.  Since January 22^nd, over 225,000 people asked a question or cast a vote on the White House YouTube channel. Today, a selection of the top-voted YouTube questions will be asked and selected participants will actually join the President in the live Google+ Hangout to get their answers.

Good news for those of you with Lenovo IdeaPad and ThinkPad tablets – according to reports online, the Android will be seeing upgrades to the latest version of the operating system sometime next quarter. The tablets have been out for awhile now (they launched last July with Android Honeycomb), the long overdue Ice Cream Sandwich update will definitely be a welcome addition when it arrives. It won’t be one of the earlier tablets to get ICS goodness, but like the saying goes: “better late than never”. We’ll keep you posted when the updates do start rolling out.

Even though we’ve had quite a number of rumors concerning the next generation Xbox (Xbox 720) recently, it looks like the console won’t be unveiled anytime soon. According to reports online, Microsoft France has announced that the upcoming console won’t be launched in 2012. According to Cedrick Delmas, marketing director of Microsoft France, “We’re in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories. I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360′s cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven’t price cut this year.” (Translated by Eurogamer).

Seeing how this is a statement from an official representative, we don’t have to take it with a pinch of salt. But there’s always a chance that Microsoft could surprise us with an unexpected announcement – what do you think? Should the successor to the Xbox 360 be announced this year, or does it still have a couple of years left?
