Back in 2013, Motorola launched the Moto X smartphone which while did not pack the highest-end hardware, it did come with a barrage of pretty handy features and customization options that made it a treat for users. The fact that it also came with a near-stock version of Android was well-appreciated.

That being said, with the next-gen Moto X and Moto G which presumably will be made by Lenovo once they have officially acquired the company, will Lenovo be attempting to install their own UI on the devices like other OEMs? Or will they continue Google’s strategy by offering up a near-stock version of Android? Thankfully for fans of Motorola, it looks like the latter will be the course of action.

Kyocera Brigadier Press Rendering For Verizon LeakedEarlier this month, it was rumored that a new Kyocera handset would be making its way onto Verizon’s network in the near future. The handset is known as the Kyocera Brigadier and thanks to a recent tweet by @evleaks, who has a pretty good track record when it comes to rumors in the past, we now have an idea of what the device could look like upon its release.

Of course it is possible that the rendering could be wrong but given his track record, there is a good chance that it could be right on the money. Based on the design, it seems that our previous inklings were right and that the device would be more of a rugged device targeted at users who require such protection, as opposed to normal smartphone owners who might prefer something more elegant.

Red HTC One M8 For Verizon Gets PicturedBack in 2013, the folks at Sprint got their hands on an exclusive red version of the HTC One, but it looks like this year that privilege will fall on Verizon, at least according to earlier rumors. Well the ever-reliable @evleaks has pretty much “confirmed” that for us when he recently posted a photo of what appears to be the new HTC One M8 in a glamor red finish.

It is a very striking finish and if you’re bored of normal and somewhat tame color finishes, then perhaps this glamor red finish is just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately @evleaks does not mention when the red version of the HTC One M8 will be released, but given that the press rendering has started to make its round, we’re hoping that it will be soon.

iPhone 6s Metal Casings Could Be Supplied By Catcher [Rumor]With the iPhone 4, Apple introduced a handset made from metal and glass which proved to be a very elegant affair, although the glass on the back was prone to scratches, not to mention very ugly cracks when accidentally dropped. Apple then moved to an all-metal design with the iPhone 5 and it looks like that trend could continue with the iPhone 6.

Apple typically redesigns its handsets once every two years so it is expected that the iPhone 6 could sport an all-new design. It could also be made from metal, thanks to reports from Barclays and Morgan Stanley (via G for Games) who have predicted that Taiwanese manufacturer, Catcher, is expected to supply many metal casings to Apple for its next-gen handset.

Microsoft States Their Commitment To Qualcomms HardwareIf you were hoping to see Intel-powered Windows Phone handsets, or perhaps Windows Phone handsets using NVIDIA, MediaTek, or even Samsung’s processors, you might be in for a wait because Microsoft has recently stated their commitment to Qualcomm’s chipsets and added that they have no plans on supporting other chipsets anytime soon.

This is according to Vineet Durani who heads up the Windows Phone division in Microsoft India. Durani recently spoke to the Times of India where he said, “We don’t have any plans to explore chipsets (processors and RAM etc) made by others… At this point of time companies making Windows Phone have to use the Qualcomm hardware.”

Apple Sells 43.7 Million iPhones, 16.3 Million iPads In Q2 2014Apple has recently announced some figures at its earnings call and according to the numbers, the Cupertino company has managed to sell 43.7 million iPhones and 16.3 million iPads during the second quarter of 2014. However this is a drop from January in which Apple managed to sell 51 million iPhones, but if we were to take a look at the first quarter of 2013, the numbers are up (37.4 million in Q1 2013).

Unfortunately Apple did not provide a breakdown of the numbers, meaning that we’re not sure how many iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c units were sold, or how many iPad Air and iPad mini with retina displays were sold either. Apple has only provided a total figure. In terms of iPads, it seems that the analysts were right in predicting that sales are dropping.
