SmartSwitch Light Control System

Peter Russo and Brendan Wypich of Stanford University have come up with the energy saving SmartSwitch – a light control system with tactile feedback that allows you to have a feel of just how much energy is being used at that point in time before you flick the switch. For instance, should power consumption at home be low at that point in time, the SmartSwitch will be a snap to flip, but whenever consumption increases, the SmartSwitch will be physically harder to flip courtesy of a built-in brake pad mechanism. We wonder whether the SmartSwitch has been programmed according to the proportionate size of your home, since a larger home naturally consumes much more juice.
