Fast forward a generation or two, and chances are kids will be able to see what a house phone looks like at a museum. Even in this day and age, most homes have already phased out home phones simply because they are impractical, and the cost of ownership for cellphones have dropped to crazy affordable levels. The Motorola HS1001 home phone aims to buck the trend, being one of the first few Android-powered handsets to hit the home phone market. You won’t find Android 2.1 with this though, since it runs only on Android 1.6 while featuring a 2.8″ touchscreen display with a virtual keypad and Wi-Fi connectivity. Unfortunately, there is no Marketplace support for the HS1001, but this DECT 6.0 handset does boast a “full spectrum of multimedia applications,” video and features common to top of the line smartphones. You also get a built-in speaker in its base station, letting you enjoy tunes played back on it when docked. Expect the Motorola HS1001 to hit the US market sometime in Q3 this year for approximately $150.
