ThereGate passes FCC testing

ThereGate has just received approval from the FCC, and for those of us who are scratching our heads wondering just what the heck is ThereGate, it is actually a box that crams in 6GB of internal storage, an SDHC memory card slot, a 4-port gigabit router, 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity and a GSM/3G radio to help you stay connected to the Internet. Apart from that, it also sports Z-Wave short-range mesh networking protocol which lets you interact with a range of compatible modules to control various aspects including lighting and security. Having its roots in Nokia, this automatically makes it compatible with cellphones. No idea on an exact release date, but it supports both European and US Z-Wave frequencies to give us a better idea on which region it will roll out in.
