It is raining and pouring Sony Ericsson today, where the first Smart Extra which is announced in Singapore would be the LiveDock multimedia station. The name itself more or less gives the game away – this particular peripheral will allow you to seamlessly integrate your Xperia smartphone into the rest of your humble abode. All you need to do is connect your smartphone to the docking station, and it will automatically launch your specified application on your behalf. If you happen to own more than a single LiveDock device, you can even choose to have them launch different applications simultaneously, such as a world clock at your desk that is at the office, or even a photo gallery for slideshows right in the comfort of your living room.

Your imagination’s the limit, really, so Sony Ericsson hopes for you to go wild with the Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station. As for us, we think this is more of a novelty than anything else, but it is still a nice peripheral to have – albeit not a must-buy.
