Sony has expanded their family of VAIO laptops with the new S Series which will feature a 15.5″ Full HD 1080p display alongside a slim and light design – and if you foresee that you will be spending most of the time out of the office, how about picking up the optional sheet battery as well to go along for all day mobility? Measuring less than an inch thin and tipping the scales at 4.4 pounds, this VAIO S Series laptop will also come with Hybrid Graphics so that you can achieve a balance between productivity and performance, letting you play games during those breaks from between your work shift.

With jet black or platinum silver to choose from, the VAIO S is certainly easy on the eyes with magnesium and aluminum materials being used for lightness. The optional sheet battery is said to deliver up to 12 hours of non-stop computing without making it too bulky for your needs. Apart from that, intelligent charging allows you to juice up the optional sheet battery separately from the laptop, and hooking it up to the system at any time without shutting down for maximum flexibility.

Other hardware specifications include a backlit 10-key numeric pad, an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, SSDs of up to 1TB in size, AMD Radeon HD 6630 Hybrid Graphics card on select models, and one-touch VAIO, ASSIST and WEB buttons. Expect this puppy to arrive from October onwards from around $1,000 – where the recommended optional sheet battery will set you back by $150. [Press Release]
