Sony wants to up the ante where home theater projectors are concerned with the Sony VPL-VW1000ES 4K model, where this new ES (Elevated Standard) offering is proud to be the first home theater front projector in the world that was specifically designed to meet the needs of custom installers, and it can also display stunning 4K images which will allow you to engage in a far more immersive, engaging visual experience – we’re talking about clarity that is more than four times the resolution of HDTV.

Now that you’ve picked your jaw up from the floor, here are the nitty gritty on the Sony VPL-VW1000ES 4K – it sports 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, and is able to throw a screen size of up to 200″ diagonally. With a totally new SXRD 4K panel, you can be sure that your blacks are more black than ever before, and when it works with Sony’s Iris3 technology, this little projector that could can hit a rather incredible 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast.

There is also the special Super Resolution 4K “upscaler” which in theory, will be able to “dramatically” enhance 2D and 3D 1080P content, letting you get more bang from your Blu-ray discs than ever before. Other hardware specifications include a built-in transmitter, picture position memory, 2D and 3D anamorphic films support.

Something this high end is not going to be light on your pockets though, as Sony has quoted a price of “under $25,000” for the new VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theater front projector as it ships later this December. [Press Release]
