Sony intends to make a splash at Mobile World Congress 2012 that is happening in Barcelona, Spain, later this month – and they are not there to release a new Crystal LED TV set, but rather, will most probably have a few new smartphones up and ready to be unveiled to the world. This will also mark Sir Howard Stringer’s last MWC as Sony’s CEO before Kazuo Hirai takes over in April. Sony’s invitations for the event has already been sent out, where it is scheduled for Sunday this coming February 26 at 9am PST. On the invitation, you get the “Xperia Sony Smartphone” words emblazoned on the upper left hand corner, while at the bottom, the text reads, “Find out what’s new and what’s next! Join Sony and Sony Mobile Communications at our Press Conference at Mobile World Congress.” Just what are some of the Sony smartphones that you expect to see then? Guess we will not be hearing the name “Ericsson” for a long time to come from here onwards.
