Sony Interactive Entertainment has introduced an integrated live television service directly into the PlayStation 5 media menu for users in the United States. Operating on a FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) model, this platform expands the console into a comprehensive multimedia hub by delivering live broadcasts without requiring additional subscription fees or standalone streaming applications.

The service features hundreds of linear channels spanning news, sports, movies, and general entertainment. Content distribution partnerships provide access to major programming networks, including NBC News Now, LiveNOW from FOX, and Fox Weather for real-time reporting. Sports coverage features dedicated broadcasts from FOX Sports, NASCAR, and the UFC, while animation fans can access channels from Crunchyroll featuring series like Naruto, Death Note, and Hunter x Hunter.

Movie and drama options include dedicated genre channels like MovieSphere, Sony One Horror Hits, and FilmRise Free Movies, alongside well-known television programs such as The Walking Dead, Community, Hell’s Kitchen, and Forensic Files. Specialized programming also highlights creator-led content, including Hot Ones, The Ringer, gaming media, and exclusive eSports coverage through platforms like eCLUTCH.

Navigation is handled through a built-in electronic program guide (EPG) optimized for the DualSense controller. Users can quickly change channels, check upcoming schedules across multiple hours, and bookmark preferred stations for immediate access.

To utilize the platform, players need an active broadband internet connection and a PlayStation Network (PSN) account registered in the supported region. A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to access the full lineup of channels.

This strategy is designed to increase user engagement by providing immediate entertainment options during gaming breaks. While currently exclusive to the US market, Sony plans to expand the streaming service to international territories in the coming months as regional content licensing agreements are finalized.
