Great news for those of you looking forward to the Sony Xperia S. Sony has officially announced on its blog that the phone is now shipping globally. While the phone has already been released in the UK it looks like it’s now going to be available in the rest of the world – at least that’s what we infer from the vague announcement. Sony will be “giving local operators the chance to tell you about specific availability and pricing in individual markets”.
The Sony Xperia S was unveiled at CES 2012 and is a pretty unique phone that features an interesting see-through bar for the capacitive Android buttons (back, home and menu). Its specs are: 4.3″ (1280 x 720) Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine, a 12-megapixel rear camera with Exmor R photo sensor, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch (Ice Cream Sandwich is said to be arriving in Q2 2012).
