macbook-surround-sound

According to an Apple patent application that was published, the Cupertino based technology giants are working on a new sound system that includes audio transducers along with multiple speakers to enable surround sound configurations on devices that look like it could be a MacBook. From the picture (above) it seems like Apple’s focus here has been to optimize audio quality with the sizes of speakers decreasing to be fit into devices with smaller and thinner form factors.

The configuration which a few speakers and an audio transducer below the keyboard of the device would allow for high range frequencies to come out through the speakers on either side of the screen, while the lower speakers would handle the mid-range frequencies. Apple also has stated that the audio transducer could provide not just the low-frequency sounds but also the mid-range ones. The detailing also adds that the transducer which could be a gel speaker or surface transducer could ideally be enclosed in a chair, keyboard or touch-based input device to provide tactile feedback to add to the “home theater experience”.
