While developers out there are busy churning out apps for more popular platforms like iOS and Android, it looks like Symbian got a little productivity love today from Microsoft in the form of the Microsoft Office Mobile apps. Originally developed for Nokia’s series of Lumia Windows Phone devices, it looks like Microsoft has kept to their word last year when they announced that Microsoft Office Mobile would eventually make its way onto Symbian devices as well.

The standard Microsoft Office apps are there, such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint, all of which have been optimized for viewing and usage on smartphones and smaller screens. The initial batch of Nokia Belle devices to receive the Microsoft Office Mobile apps includes the Nokia 701, Nokia 700, Nokia 603, Nokia E7, Nokia X7, Nokia C7, Nokia Oro, and the Nokia C6-01.

Nokia/Microsoft will also be bringing the apps to the Nokia N8, Nokia E6 and Nokia 500 in the future. It should be noted that for those planning to get their hands on the Nokia 808 PureView is that the apps will come preloaded on the device, so you will not have to worry about updating it or downloading the apps at all. Head on down to the Nokia Conversations blog for the details.
