Last month some of you guys might have recalled that we reported on NTT DoCoMo’s upcoming Sharp SH-06D Evangelion themed Android handset. Well the good news for fans is that clearer photos of the device and its UI have been revealed along with a video that should give us a better of idea of what to expect – assuming it ever makes its way stateside of course. We’ve seen some pretty unique Android designs in the past from Japanese manufacturers, but we have to admit that this one takes the cake and really seems to be sticking true to its Evangelion theme.

Granted its not the easiest UI to navigate, but we’re sure fans won’t mind. Under the hood its hardware remains identical to the regular SH-06D, meaning that we can expect a 4.5” 720p 3D “MAGI” display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread although we’re not sure if it will ever be upgraded to Android 4.0 in the near future. The phone will also come preinstalled with 3D versions of Evangelion movies which will no doubt be a treat for fans. The device will be available in limited quantities in Japan only and will see a June 2012 release, so for those of us living stateside or anywhere else apart from Japan, your best chance of getting your hands on the device could be from eBay or Craigslist.
