Today, Facebook is announcing that it is integrating it’s “Like” button into third-party apps. The social networking giant stressed that while its “Like” feature has been an integral part of the platform, mobile apps have not been able to integrate the functionality. Facebook said that its users can now use the new like action to implement their own like button for a more integrated experience with an app on the web and other mobile platforms. Facebook explains that whenever a person likes their friend’s story via the new like action, a notification will be sent to that friend.

This also means that, for example, if you will “like” a photo on Instagram or Foursquare – two extremely popular apps today, the activity will now show up on your Facebook feed as well. “Unlike the Like button, people must authorize your app to publish like stories. Continue to use the Like button to make it easy for anyone who visits your website to share content back to Facebook. Similarly, use the Like button when you want to make it easy for anyone to like your Facebook Page,” Facebook said via its blog.
