CyanogenMod 10 now on the Nexus 7 If you own a Google Nexus 7 and you’ve been looking for a custom ROM to replace stock Jelly Bean, you’re in luck. CyanogenMod 10 (arguably one of the best custom ROMs out there) is now available for the Android tablet. While it’s an unofficial build, you’ll get all the bells and whistles found in CyanogenMod – customizable lockscreen, very customizable power widget, support for USB OTG, and more.

It’s still in its first release, and you can expect bugs or certain features to not work, but if you can’t hold out until CM10′s official release, you might want to give it a shot. CyanogenMod: CyanogenMod is an alternative firmware that is based on the Android operating system. It is seen as more versatile that the stock firmware which comes in such devices, offering more features and options such as theme support, Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) compatibility, a huge repository of Access Point Name list (APN), an OpenVPN client, a souped up reboot menu, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering support, the ability to overclock your device's CPU and perform enhancements, and soft buttons among others. One good thing about CyanogenMod is the obvious omission of pre-installed spyware or bloatware.

Google: Google is an Internet Search company with profits mainly derived from its AdWords advertising program. Google is also known for other high-profile web-related products such as Chrome, GMail, Google Docs or Google Map, and it has also made a very successful entry into the mobile handset market with its Android mobile operating system. The company was created in 1998 and went public in 2004. Google is one of the most visited site in the world.

Nexus 7: The Google Nexus 7 is a seven inches Android tablet produced conjointly by Google and ASUS. It is the first of three Nexus devices, the two others being the Google Nexus 4 smartphone and the Google Nexus 10 tablet. The Google Nexus 7 is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC which has 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Networking-wise, the tablet has WiFi, 3G (optional) and NFC.
