LG’s Smart TV game portal known as Game World has just been announced at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, where Game World is expected to usher in a brand new era of downloadable casual 3D games right there and then in your living room. I guess this makes sense, considering how the hundreds of channels that we have these days simply are not enough to keep us satisfied, so much so that games and other entertainment software will need to be incorporated into something as common as the TV. The LG Game World was exclusively developed for its CINEMA 3D Smart TV range, where this portal will deliver a user-friendly way to search, purchase, and play game apps. These will come in both 2D and 3D flavors, and hopefully, the touted “intuitive interface” will live up to its name.

Most of its titles online can be played using LG’s Magic Remote, but there is also the option to use any other compatible third-party game pad of course if that is your cup of tea. Four categories will greet you as you load up LG Game World – Featured, Top Chart, New and Genre, delivering quick access to the contents. Expect a global rollout of Game World to happen sometime before the year is over. [Press Release]
