We’ve been hearing plenty of rumors of the upcoming Sony NEX-5R and the NEX-6, with the former expected to be announced later this week, while the NEX-6 will most likely see an announcement in September. While it remains to be seen if either announcement date pans out, the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors have spotted that the Sony NEX-5N has had its price slashed by $100, most likely in anticipation of the Sony NEX-5R, its successor. Of course this is merely speculation at this point in time, but it would not be a complete stretch of the imagination if it were true. In any case as a quick recap for those who might have missed the news, the Sony NEX-5R has been rumored to feature a new image sensor, faster AF, WiFi capabilities and also an accompanying app for smartphones that allows the camera to be controlled remotely. It has also been speculated that it will be priced at $699 which will basically take over the NEX-5N’s price point. In any case with its rumored announcement expected for this Wednesday, we only have a couple of days to wait to see if they pan out, so stay tuned.
