Nyko, a manufacturer of third-party accessories for gaming consoles, is partnering with video games and entertainment retailer GameStop to bring its Nyko PlayPad Controllers to Android consumers nationwide. Nyko’s PlayPad and PlayPad Pro, a GameStop exclusive, are now available for $39.99. These PlayPad controllers are capable of supporting games that are optimized for Tegra processors. The PlayPad Pro is a full-sized wireless Bluetooth controller that features a dual analog stick, a d-pad, 4 face buttons, and left and right dual shoulder/ trigger buttons for the perfect gaming experience.
The smaller PlayPad, on the other hand, is a travel sized wireless Bluetooth controller with specialized tablet stand and carrying case that suitable for the road warrior. Nyko is also proud to announce that it will be the exclusive provider of 3rd party Android controllers for GameStop and EB Games in Canada. In addition to the controllers, Nyko is also offering a free Android app entitled Nyko Playground on Google Play.
“As we’ve watched mobile games evolve to console-quality levels, we’ve seen a need for more comfortable and familiar control options than touch screens alone can provide,” said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing for Nyko Technologies. “By working with the veterans at NVIDIA, we have been able to lead the charge in creating dedicated hardware that’s optimized for games running on the Tegra chipset. We look forward to bringing the PlayPad controllers to market with GameStop as our launch partner in this initiative.”
