As some of you guys might have heard by now, WhatsApp has recently been updated to support the Windows Phone 8 platform, Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system. Based on that logic one would expect that the instant messenger would make its way onto Blackberry 10 as well right? After all it is available on Blackberry, so why not Blackberry 10? Unfortunately if you were planning on hopping aboard the Blackberry 10 bandwagon, you might be interested to learn that WhatsApp has apparently no plans at the moment to support RIM’s upcoming mobile platform.

This was confirmed when James Richardson of Crackberry emailed WhatsApp to check if they would support Blackberry 10. In a short and succinct reply, a member of the WhatsApp stated that there were no plans at the moment to support Blackberry 10. This is kind of a big deal because one of the attractive factors of a platform would be the number of apps available on it. For example when it comes to iOS and Android, you can rest assured that most apps on iOS will be available for Android and vice versa.

We guess there’s still some hope as the WhatsApp team member did say “at the moment”, suggesting that maybe down the road there will be support. Either way if you were planning on getting Blackberry 10, this is something you might want to keep in mind. What do you guys think? Is this going to be a deal breaker, or are the majority of your friends on BBM anyway and you don’t really need WhatsApp?
