Microsoft has released an improved version of Windows Phone app for desktop today, finally bringing it out of the beta stage. This app can be used for syncing content such as music and photos between a Windows Phone smartphone and a PC. It can also be used for managing music in iTunes. The new update brings improved library support for syncing folders and improved iTunes podcast support. The usual slew of bug fixes and performance improvements that one can expect from an app update are also on board.

Users who had the beta version installed would need to visit the Windows Phone website in order to download an update of this app. Now the Windows Phone app for desktop will notify users when an update is available and will allow them to download it with just a click. Files and folders can now also be synced from external hard drives. Users will now be able to see how much space they’re using for each type of content, this will make it easier to manage remaining space on the WP smartphone. The new Windows Phone app for desktop is now available for download on Windows.
