iOS 7 was announced yesterday to much fanfare, and one of the cool visual features of the new operating system would be the 3D parallax effect which gives the user the impression that the app icons are floating on the background with a 3D effect. It’s a bit novel but hey, it does help iOS stand out against the competition, not to mention it will give iOS users a crowd-pleasing trick to show to non-iOS friends at parties and stuff. However if you don’t think you can wait until the Fall which is when iOS 7 is set for release, there is a jailbreak version of the parallax effect which you can download and install on your jailbroken iOS device. It might not be as “cool” as the official version, but it’s still pretty neat nonetheless. For those interested in checking the tweak out, head on over to Cydia where you will be able to download the tweak called “3DBoard”. For non-jailbroken iOS users, you can check out the effect for yourself in the demo video above.
