PlayStation 3 owners have most likely been playing Naughty Dog’s latest masterpiece, The Last of Us, for the past couple of weeks. But we’re sure players weren’t aware there was a portion of the game which accidentally links to a real-world phone-sex hotline, which the game’s developer corrected in the release of its latest patch for The Last of Us.

The Last of Us patch 1.02 was released over the weekend in order to address the accidental inclusion of a phone-sex hotline phone number which is pinned to one of the game’s numerous bulletin boards. The patch notes for patch 1.02 says textures of bulletin boards have been changed, specifically the “Pest Control” signs as these were the notices that contained phone numbers to phone-sex hotlines.

The inclusion of these phone numbers are being credited to an artist’s mistake.”What happened was, they put some phone numbers in the game and then they thought they could just change the area code to 555, then it’s invalid because it’s what they do in movies,” Druckmann said in a recent interview with Kotaku. “But I guess that doesn’t work when you have a 1-800 in front of it.”
