samsung-logoIn the computing world, more RAM isn’t a bad since it allows your computer to run smoother. However when it comes to mobile phones, while more RAM can’t hurt, is it truly necessary? It would seem as though our smartphones these days are catching up in terms of hardware to computers and if the reports are to be believed, there is a chance that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 could feature a whopping 4GB of RAM as part of its hardware. According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung is expected to begin production of its 8Gb LPDDR4 chip sometime in 2014, which has led to speculation that if the production could be completed on time, there is a good chance it could debut in the Galaxy S5.

As it stands we have been hearing a lot of rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 these days. Last we heard Samsung could adopt a 5.25” QHD display and also a metal body which is a nice change of pace from the plastic material Samsung typically favors. Samsung has also recently teased a possible Exynos announcement for CES 2014, which some believe could be about a new 64-bit Exynos chipset which would compete with the likes of Apple’s own 64-bit chipset, the A7. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Is 4GB of RAM really necessary in our smartphones these days? Or do you feel like it might be overkill?
