alcatel-pop-s[MWC 2014] So here we are at another year’s edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and have just heard how Alcatel One Touch has announced a bunch of smartphones from the Pop smartphone line, where it will be known as “Pop S“. The ‘S’ suffix actually stands for speed, where it was obviously named by a Captain Obvious somewhere. The Alcatel Pop S7 as seen above will come with a 5-inch qHD display, a spanking new quad-core 1.3GHz LTE chip from MediaTek, Android 4.4 KitKat as the operating system of choice, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 5MP shooter at the back, a front facing VGA camera, a microSD memory card slot, and a 3,000mAh battery.

You will be able to find it arrive in a couple of LTE models, and depending on where you live, it will be appearing in Europe as well as Asia, retailing for 189 Euros. For folks who prefer something larger, then the Alcatel S9 would be more ideal, as you enjoy 6” of viewing goodness in 720p resolution, where it is also accompanied by a 3,400mAh battery, crammed into a chassis that measures 8.5mm thin. It will be powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm 8926 processor, an 8MP shooter, a 2MP front-facing camera, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the mobile operating system of choice and 8GB of internal memory. The asking price? 219 Euros.

Last but not least, there is the Alcatel Pop S3, which is a whole lot smaller, and this is the most entry level version of the lot. It will be accompanied by a 4” WVGA display, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a 2,000mAh battery, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 5MP camera at the back, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot.
