galaxy-s5-preview-mwc2014-22It has been a little over a month since Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 and if the rumors are to be believed, the Galaxy S5 will not be alone and that there could be many variants launched after it. One of them is said to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini and according to the folks at SamMobile, they claim to have gotten their hands on the specs.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S5 mini will have the model number SM-G800 so that’s something to keep an eye out for with regards to FCC filings and other sightings. The handset is also said to pack a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 720p HD resolution. This is smaller than the Galaxy S5’s 5.1-inch display but we guess there are some who prefer their screens to be more manageable.

The phone will also reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor although no model was specified, but it has been speculated that the Snapdragon 400 could be a possibility. Other specs includes an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, an IR blaster, a 2,100mAh battery and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

It is unclear at this point in time if the Galaxy S5 mini will feature the same IP67 rating that the Galaxy S5 has, or whether or not it will feature a fingerprint sensor as well, although given that the “mini” offerings from Samsung tends to be a more simplistic and affordable affair, chances are these features could be passed on.

We still have no idea on when the alleged Galaxy S5 mini will be launched or how much it will cost, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info so check back with us at a later date for the details.
