galaxy-s5-preview-mwc2014-18In time to come, we will all go through the motions of replacing our aged devices with new ones, and that would mean sending our existing but well used smartphone to the digital graveyard, thinking that it is no longer our problem but the landfill’s. It will come back to haunt us, with all of the silicon junk piling up with nowhere else to go. Disposing it in an improper manner can lead to harmful effects on the environment and possibly health, so it is always good to get off on the right foot in the first place. Samsung has announced that they will expand applications for eco-friendly packaging in its Galaxy series of devices in order to reduce energy use and support the recycling of unused resources.

Apart from that, Samsung has also continued to pledge its commitment to develop the Galaxy series continuously while applying next generation eco-friendly material. Take the recently released Samsung Galaxy S5 for example – it uses a 100% recyclable paper for the manual as well as packaging.

Other than that, the Galaxy S5 will also be accompanied by a high efficiency, low-load charger, in addition to naturally degrading plastic packaging material and charger cases that makes use of recyclable plastic and soy ink sans petroleum solvents, which works in favor of preventing soil and marine environment contamination. As consumers become more informed of their choices, they will be able to make a better decision in time to come. [Press Release]
