The world’s largest social network today announced an update for its iPad application. The updated Facebook iPad app brings a tweaked user interface that is going to be familiar to anyone who has used the social network on a desktop. A new content column has been added to the right-hand side of the display which will provide users with easy access to games as well as content trending on Facebook.

Facebook does clarify that it is testing out this change right now so its possible that not every user might see the new content column. It will only appear if the ipad is held in landscape mode.

The column primarily focuses on games, making it much easier for users to tap and play their favorite games without having to navigate the entire application. Moreover the social network will also recommend games to users that it believes they’ll like, right in the column itself. Facebook has also said that it may also allow developers to advertise their games here at some point in the future.

Apart from games the new content column will also display content that’s trending on the one-billion strong social network. It will include trending videos as well. The list will be dynamically generated for each user based on their interests and interactions.

The updated Facebook for iPad app is now live and available for download from the App Store.
