ultra-street-fighter-4So it was just yesterday that Namco Bandai’s Tekken 7 was confirmed. Tekken 7 is one of the more classic arcade fighting games around, so it doesn’t really feel like coincidence when Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono revealed that the company had something Street Fighter-related to announce in the near future.

Ono took to the stage and gave a short speech before the Ultra Street Fighter IV finals took place at EVO 2014. Ono had jokingly apologized for Street Fighter still being in “Ultra” while Tekken was already at number. He also went on to state that Capcom had been planning the advancement of the Street Fighter franchise and that they would be announcing something “soon”.

Unfortunately no word on when exactly this announcement will be taking place, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out. Could it be a Street Fighter V announcement? Back in 2013, Ono revealed that Street Fighter V was not in development due to the lack of budget and staff.

However a year later, back in June last month, Ono announced that Street Fighter V was in its early planning stages, suggesting that the game was on track for development. Perhaps the announcement could be to reveal the game officially, but either way we’ll be keeping our ears peeled for more information.
