Nokia, having sold their famous mobile phone division to Microsoft earlier this year, did not throw in their in-house HERE mapping business as part of the deal. Hence, it is not surprising to hear that the Finnish company has decided to tease the masses with an upcoming announcement that does seem to point in the general direction where HERE services will make its way over to Samsung’s range of Gear smartwatches.
After all, how else are you going to interpret the “HERE for Gear” event that is set to happen in London? In the teaser image that was posted through the official HERE Twitter account, it makes no qualms about using Samsung’s Gear logo, which means that the possibility of a Nokia and Samsung partnership being announced is extremely high.
Just to refresh our memories, HERE services does include the likes of maps, navigation, public transportation information, as well as a slew of data on the millions of points of interest around the world. The Tizen-powered Gear S which is a beauty to behold, and was just released this week, will also be able to deliver turn-by-turn pedestrian navigation for you to get around in an unfamiliar place, now how about that?
