kyocera hydro lifeIf you’re looking for a rugged phone, you might be interested to learn that T-Mobile has announced the Kyocera Hydro Life, a phone which is aimed at those suffering from “fragiphoniphobia”. Never heard that word before? Don’t worry, neither have we, but thankfully Kyocera has educated us that it stands for the fear of fragile phones.

The Kyocera Hydro Life does not appear to be the most powerful of smartphones, but like we said it is a rugged device, so for those who are more concerned about durability and the longevity of their handsets, this might be what the doctor ordered. The handset will sport a 4.5-inch impact-resistant display with a resolution of 540×960.

It will feature a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 2,000mAh battery, and will feature IP57 protection, meaning that it will be both water and dust resistant. The handset also meets the Military Standard 810G specifications, so it should survive shocks and drops, but to a certain extent, of course.

The Kyocera Hydro Life will be made available via Wal-Mart starting on the 8th of August where it will be priced at $124.99. For those on MetroPCS’ network, the handset will make its way onto the carrier come 29th of August.
