mario.kart.8.s0Nintendo, being one of the gaming industry’s pioneers, are finding themselves going down a slippery slope at the moment in terms of moving its hardware – and subsequently, software, which in turn affects their revenue. Well, there has been a brief respite offered thanks to the recently released Mario Kart title having boosted their bottomline by a considerable margin.

Nintendo shared that Mario Kart 8 has managed to sell more than a million copies in the US alone, which is a huge accomplishment considering how Nintendo has been battling the long standing issue of fiscal losses, not to mention a rather lacklustre Wii U in the market as well as having its future questioned by industry insiders and fans.

Mario Kart 8 is the second game to surpass the one million milestone, with the title achieving that before being the New Super Mario Bros that sold more than 1.69 million copies to date. As for Mario Kart 8’s global sales, it has surpassed the 2.82 million copies mark, and these killer titles have certainly done their bit to cause folks on the sidelines to actually pick up the Wii U so that they too, can get in on the action.

Here’s hoping for Nintendo to be able to deliver even more blockbusters down the road!
