microsoft-logoThere is value in catering to the entry level market, and while the profit margin of your service or product might not be high, you will more than make up for it in terms of volume. Google has just announced their maiden trio of smartphones that will roll out under the umbrella of the Android One program in India, and it looks as though Microsoft too, wants in on a potential billion dollar enterprise. In fact, Microsoft recently announced 14 new Windows Phone OEM partners, and they will want to drop the Asha range by replacing it with the straightforward “First” series of feature phones in India, too.

The “First” range of feature phones will be extremely affordable – chances are they will not cost more than $40 after conversion, which will hopefully be able to see it win in terms of pricing compared to the rest of the competition. Right now, the already affordable Lumia 530 carries an approximate price tag of $117 in India.

Chris Weber, VP of Mobile Device Sales, shared, “We aim to push the price point of Windows phones significantly lower – we certainly see that happening on the Android ecosystem – without impacting quality and experience.” Do you think that Microsoft’s efforts will pay off?
