destinyThere are probably plenty of gamers out there who still have yet to purchase next-gen consoles like the Xbox One or the Sony PlayStation 4, but what does this mean for gamers who purchase games for current-gen consoles but eventually upgrade? Does that mean that they’d have to buy the game again?

Depending on the developer/publisher, that might be the case for certain titles, but the good news is that if you have had your eye on Bungie’s Destiny, you might be pleased to learn that Bungie has announced a special promotion in which Xbox 360 gamers will be able to upgrade to the Xbox One copy of the game at a later date when the do purchase the console.

Basically all you’d have to do is buy the Destiny Digital Base Game or Expansion Pass for the Xbox 360 before the 15th of January 2015, and when you do decide to eventually get your Xbox One, you will be able to download the game for free via the Xbox Store using the same account.

This will also work for PlayStation 3 gamers who have yet to upgrade to the PlayStation 4, but unfortunately it seems that the offer won’t work if you’re planning on jumping ship, so a PS3 gamer upgrading to the Xbox One and vice versa won’t be able to reap the advantages of this promotion.
