We know how Microsoft feels about Android – after all they pretty much killed off Nokia’s attempt at Android phones not too long after they had acquired the company. A competing device against Windows Phone? No thanks! Well that’s what we thought, but interestingly enough, Microsoft has recently launched an Android lockscreen of their own called Next.

This was put together by the Microsoft Garage team and if you were looking for a lockscreen alternative, we guess you could always give Microsoft’s Next a try. Basically from what we can tell, the Next lockscreen from Microsoft wants to help simplify your smartphone user experience. Basically it puts most of your key features in the lockscreen itself.

According to the description, “Next Lock Screen, a Microsoft Garage project, saves you time with quick app launch and access to the information you need. It’s a time saver lock screen built for busy professionals. See your calendar, missed calls, email and text messages all at a glance. Connect to a conference call in a single tap without unlocking your phone. Next Lock Screen even surfaces the apps you use most based on your location.”

It’s an interesting attempt by Microsoft and if you’re interested in giving the lockscreen a go, you can do so by heading on over to the Google Play Store for the free download. So, what do you guys think of Microsoft’s attempt?
