Portable Bluetooth speakers are great. They’re generally compact and easy to take around, and they’re wireless which means you don’t have to fuss with any cables. However if there is one drawback is that their battery life is short and the time it takes to recharge them can be a few hours.

Well if you’re looking for a set of speakers that takes minutes to charge and could last hours, perhaps Blueshift’s Hydrogen speakers could be of interest to you. No, the speakers are not made using hydrogen, that’s just its name. However the speakers are made of bamboo and will feature supercapacitors that are an alternative to D-cell batteries.

These supercapacitors will provide more power than regular batteries and have a much long lifecycle in terms of charges compared to a standard battery. According to its creators, the Hydrogen speaker will be able to charge in just 5 minutes and will last for 4 hours at 80% volume.

The speakers will sport a 3-inch full range driver, a bamboo cabinet, a Class-D amplifier, and will be easy to get inside of it which will allow those who love tinkering to swap out parts as needed. As it stands the Hydrogen speakers are currently seeking crowdfunding at Crowd Supply, so if you’d like to pledge your support, head on over to its website for the details.
