galaxy-note-4-review-15While large displays are great for playing games, surfing the web, editing photos and whatnot, at what point do we draw the line and say that this is too big for a smartphone? Well we suppose as long as the demand is there, OEMs will keep pushing the envelope. That being said, the folks at PhoneArena recently got tipped off that Samsung could be working on a 5.9-inch 4K AMOLED display for 2015.

They have heard that the South Korean tech giant has plans to begin mass producing these display panels by next August meaning that it could very well make its way into the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. As it stands the Galaxy Note 4 features a QHD display, so the upgrade to 4K is quite a huge leap.

With the amount of pixels and the screen size, it would effectively give it a pixel density of more than 700ppi. If you think this is a bit ludicrous, LG’s head of display mentioned earlier this year that such densities were well within our reach, so we guess the idea of seeing a 700+ppi smartphone in 2015 might not be much of a stretch.

However we have to wonder just how much power you would need to support such a display, plus we can only imagine how taxing it could be on the battery of the device, but until we hear from Samsung officially, take it with a grain of salt for now, but what say you? Would you like to see a 5.9-inch 4K display in the Galaxy Note 5? Or is that a little too much already?
