weatherbotThere is always creativity waiting to be tapped – especially among the young, who are full of ideas and the ilk. Well, it seems as though a bunch of Brevard County students are working together with the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station as well as NASA in order to help them figure out various weather conditions during rocket launches.

After all, the presence of lightning will definitely be detrimental when it comes to a rocket launch, which is the reason why weather balloons are able to be released during rocket launches in order to determine should conditions be safe for liftoff.

In fact, it has already happened twice this past year where there were rocket launch attempts botched due to lightning that stopped the release of weather balloons. This collaboration by students from Rockledge, Cocoa Beach, Viera and Space Coast High Schools has ended up in the form of the Weather-BOT. Known as the PINK team, this robot will release a weather balloon on behalf of humans, doing so in dangerous weather conditions, too. This unique robot will be controlled using a PlayStation remote. It remains to be seen whether the Weather-BOT will be able to work in different kinds of conditions down the road.
