In fact, it is said that a Robotech movie has been In various stages of development for a while already, and with word that Sony Pictures having announced their procurement of the big screen rights, there is “the intention of moving quickly toward production of a future global franchise”.

For those who are not in the know, “Robotech” debuted in the 1980s from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions, where this rather unique science fiction amalgamation saw the show being re-edited and re-written where the dialogue of three Japanese anime series are concerned – “The Super Dimension Fortress Macross,” “Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross” and “Genesis Climber MOSPEADA”, so that producers have an adequate amount of episodes to air.

Immortals and 300 franchise producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are also said to be developing Robotech with Michael Gordon, in order to work on the screenplay, and this team is touted to deliver a modern sensibility to the tentpole, easing the fickle audience of today to the Robotech universe. We simply cannot wait to see how the effort from Sony Pictures will end up.
